Now that the machine has tasted human flesh it will be hungry for more.

Great work place safety training video. Cost. 1 life.

There is a reason all those warning labels exist in our society (especially in the military).

"Warning: do not iron clothes while wearing them. Do not use toaster oven in the shower."

Unfortunately China absolutely does not value human life.

Unfortunately China absolutely does not value human life.

Well it is a landmass.

But seriously, I wonder why WPD and its clones get so inundated with loudmouths broadcasting their amateur sociological musings.

P.S. FREE KING KONG

With all the evidence, you don't agree that China does not value human life? You are literally the only person on the entire internet to say that. (Hyperbole) :-)

Yeah a warning label would have saved that guy for sure...

Or maybe a guard, or maybe some training... "Do not jump into machine to attempt to clear jams."

They always said the rules / warning labels in the military had at least one death per safety warning. For each "do not look down the barrel of a loaded rifle" there was one idiot that died doing it first.

perhaps turn off the machine? jesus christ

[–]normal_dude 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

My guess is he did, but someone turned it on without knowing he was down there.

Anyone knows how this machine works? What does it look like further down?

Is it grinding stones or pushing them until they're crushed or what?

[–]slewdawg 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Why did they not turn the machine off before trying to fix it? Idiocy beyond comprehension.

I think we take for granted our "safety first!" mentality. A lot of guys that would do daredevil things on the weekend will wear hardhats during the week, go over checklists, have redeunancies, follow best practices, etc. But then they might ride a motorcycle home after work, or just drive like a jackass.

[–]fruitjack 6 insightful - 4 fun6 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

well that was a waste of a perfectly good hard hat. anyway, do we know if the shoes were still on?

[–]anescient 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Oh I see, that rock kinda jammed. ... OK, so, he's going to lean over to push it and then fall in? ... Okie dokie I guess he's just gonna jump right in. ... And get crushed by a rock? Or the machine? ... Both, of course.

Bravo, Chinese industry.

Like ... I can feel sorry for work accidents. They probably have to work fast for very little and safety gets pushed to the side.

But PUSHING THE ROCK DOWN WHILE STANDING ON IT?! I don't understand how there could be any other outcome. Dude didn't even grab the top while pushing ut (which is still idiotic but it would at least seem like he had an idea for what happens after the rock falls down).

This was stupidness beyond measure.

from the acme school of 'how gravity works' comes "don't look down", a lecture by dr. wile E coyote, in 6 parts.

As soon as I saw the words "Stone Crushing Machine" I knew this was not going to end well.

[–]sugarallie 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I feel terrible for this but I really want to see the aftermath or at least get a clear idea of what this machine looks like and does inside.

[–]beefer 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

But.... did he fix it?

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's the best(?) part I think: there is still a rock stuck at the top. He literally died for nothing

[–]Oneda[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

A thick rock seems to have blocked the stone crushing machine so a worker goes in and tries to free it up. Unfortunately for him, he gets eaten by the machine which seems to have suddenly started without warning. His co-workers could only run away, probably in an attempt to stop the machine but it's already too late.

This is why de-energization and lockout procedures are so important. I dont know what the output of this particular machine was but he was likely crushed into a funnel that started wide, like 18 inches or so, and descended into a 2 inch final output. Absolutely excruciating.

[–]Oneda[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, it must have been a scary, painful death. I don't think you can die right away when it's just your feet that's being crushed first. At some point, the poor guy probably lost all hope of being saved and just let go of the edge that he was holding on to (unless the machine just slurped him forcefully).

There was not a single way that could've ended well.

[–]Breezyjr 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I like how the guys hands just slowly disappeared near the end...

[–]BornToWPD 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is coming from a guy who knows absolutely zero about stone crushing machines, but shouldn't there be some tool or something he could've used to fix the blockage without having to climb into the fucking machine?
