I don't know. Maybe the begging for mercy part is out of character, but plenty of cops would react similarly in this situation. Maybe not with a shriek but with a holler or a yell.

Her shrieking may have saved her life though since it alerted the backup that something bad was going down. However, if the backup had been a few seconds late, things might have turned out bad for her since the guy was going for his second gun.

I can only armchair as to how she could have handled the situation differently as I have no LEO or tactical training, but she could have ducked and ran to the rear corner of the vehicle to give her that space to bring her weapon in. That probably would've been much better than grabbing for the perp's gun and giving him the opportunity to pull her in. The perp had so many options with her arms not free. He could have floored the vehicle and dragged her for instance.

Her screaming didn't make him just appear there.. he was already on the way.

If you pay attention to the timing, you'll see that the perp managed to break free seconds after backup arrived. If the backup hadn't heard screaming, he probably wouldn't have approached the scene as urgently as he did, which would have given the perp more seconds that he could have used to take an aimed shot.

There was a male cop who was even more reckless and shrieked just like the lady, once his life was threatened. The difference is that one cop did get murdered. This lady put up more of a fight than than the male cop even tried. It's a natural reaction.
