I feel bad for the driver. Not for the moron who sees this mammoth vehicle working in the snow and just walks along side and then behind it without a care in the world. Moron. The fact she made it to that age is a miracle, this was a true darwin award winner.

I don't agree in you calling her a moron and getting upvotes. The vehicle saw her and she couldn't have guessed it'd be backing up. Mabye she was day dreaming or had loud music on. Gee I totally could die like that.

If she was daydreaming or had loud musci on then everything I said is 100% valid. Fucktards who walk around public with headphones on with no knowledge of what's going on around them not only are a danger to themselves but everyone else. Someone just misses them and swerves to not hit them becuase they're listening to their music and not paying attention, and they hit someone else who was following the law - I say fuck them. Good riddance, more Darwin award winners.

We have too many people In the world anyway. But I think we’d all feel differently if this was someone’s mom or sister. I agree though that it’s her fault. She has killed herself and probably scarred this poor guy for life.

At the 39 second mark right after the driver of the machine feels the unnatural bump, he jumps down to check if his fears just became reality. Upon seeing the crushed body and the exploded brain matter of a woman, the driver immediately gets crushed by guilt. The man will have to live with this guilt for his entire life, but until when will he be able to bear this weight?

Some vodka and he'll be fine.

No question it'll haunt him, but I hope he gets beyond guilt. From the look of it he might not have seen her even if he did double-check behind; she came awful close.

I never turn my back to mobile heavy machinery.

More importantly, I take good care to be seen by heavy machinery operators if I have to get close. If they know about you going past in any direction, they'll be much more careful.

I'm actually more inclined to say it wasn't the woman's fault.

She used this public parking lot like she would every day I assume. The vehicle backed up and the driver didn't see her. It was an accident but I'd still blame the driver for his carelessness more than the woman. He is working on a public space with people around, that's what happens if you just back up a vehicle and approaching a person from behind with it.

She thought the same and that’s why she ded

"According to preliminary reports, the driver of the snow plowing equipment cleared a section of a shopping center’s parking lot and failed to notice the pedestrian, running her over."

Does cleared mean that he cleared the snow or does it mean that he'd cleared the area for no public use? Seems to be more than one person wondering around.

Reminds me of Austin Powers

I can't really grasp the weight of these machines and the force they put on the ground. The giant tires just look, I don't know, soft, kinda pillow-y.

[–]VantaFount 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

They're not. You can't even flip one of those tires over by yourself, unless you've trained your body for years. There's nothing light and pillowy about a backhoe.

[–]anescient 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I think it has to do with the way they bounce. The tires are bad news and the machines are ridiculous, but they're made for each other, and when they bounce it looks like a fun bounce.

[–]Rymanjan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's not. They have to put shocks in the seats of machines like this, and even then they're really rough to drive at even quarter to half speed, especially on rough terrain. I've hit my head on the roof of one before off a bad pothole while getting gas. It's a terrifying bounce once you realize how bad things can go.

Look at his total anguish. Poor guy.

I hit a pedestrian several years ago. She survived. The horrible feeling I had while she was laying there being treated was immense. I think about her everytime I pass the spot where it happened. I cant imagine the guilt had she died. Even though there wasnt anything I could do to avoid the situation, I probably would never drive again.

I accidentally almost crushed a kid while pushing an ice cream cart on the beach. His father was fast enough to pull him out of the way. The adrenaline dump was fucking insane, one of the worst things I've experienced

Hoodie on, probably earphones in ear or hanging on the phone, walking behind a heavy machine - recipe for a disaster.

That was intense for the driver
