More and more I think the US is not calling the shots. Instead, it's a group of people from many countries but mostly the UK. The core group is old money going back to the Dutch East India Company who sold opium to China. It's the same group that told the US to get out of Afghanistan because they had decided to replace heroin with fentanyl. "There is a world within the world." — That's from Libra by Don DeLillo, who also wrote White Noise about a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio that caused an "airborne toxic event." Somebody on that committee has good taste in writers.
