I don't believe this is possible for a single fired artillery round.

They in 2001 they already had artillery rounds with rocket propulsion assisted flight and controls, which could go about 23 miles.

The WW1 Germans had artillery that went ~75 miles, but they were transported on train cars, and operators went deaf after firing them.

This boondoggle is likely an attempt to keep the artillery corps relevant; in a military era dominated by air superiority.

It's def not single fire. The current SOTA that can be fired from a howitzer is M549 HERA projectile, accurate range of ~30km.

My guess is the article is referring to a variant of LONG RANGE HYPERSONIC WEAPON. There was a recent leak of Common Hypersonic Glide Body that seems to be response to the 3M22 Zircon

LONG RANGE HYPERSONIC WEAPON

I wouldn't want to fire this weapon, or be around when the sonic boom hits.
