I've had good luck with vermicomposting in a few Rubbermaid tubs. I use the castings directly sometimes, but what really seems to work is mixing 2 cups of it into 5 gallons of water and applying as fertilizer every 2 weeks or so. No airation or additives, just make muddy water and dump it promptly.
