This scares me. I am philosophically opposed to military interventions/expansions. Our history with meddling in other countries' affairs is pretty deplorable. But maybe there could be a humanitarian argument to outweigh my anti-war bias. I just don't know.

I don't feel the US has any business intervening in Venezuela other than to exlpoit it's resources. Take a look at the other posts in this sub, the so called humanitarian crisis is just an excuse for US to intervene.

That is also my feeling, naturally. Feelings aren't fact based arguments though. I'm sure the situation is more complex than I know.

other than to exlpoit it's resources.

If by "exploit" you mean "purchase their oil at market prices, I don't see anything wrong with that. Like I said though, the only thing I know for sure is I don't know.

Too bad I can't count on the press to give a factual account of what's actually happening. All I really know is that real venezuelans say they are really suffering.

Me saying "I don't feel" is not based on a hunch, it's based on the evidence I have seen.

Correcting The False Narrative On Venezuela & Humanitarian Aid

The real humanitarian aid: Inside Venezuela’s state-subsidized communal markets - Max Blumenthal

Max Blumenthal searches for communist dictatorship at Venezuelan luxury mall

There certainly are problems in Venezuela, such as hyper-inflation, but US Sanctions Cost Venezuela $6B Since August 2017, Sparking Humanitarian Catastrophe

Maduro won in a democratic election:

Did Venezuela’s President Really ‘Steal’ the 2018 Election from an Unknown Who Didn’t Run?

Former US President Carter: Venezuelan Electoral System “Best in the World”

Certainly there is suffering in Venezuela, just as there is suffering in any other country including the US, but after the Bolivarian revolution, Poverty in Venezuela fell from 70% in 1996 to 23% in 2009

The suffering in Venezuela does not even come close to what has happended in Syria or Yemen in recent years.

Again, this is based on my analysis of the information I have gathered. I certainly encourage you to gather your own information and make your own conclusions, and post them here on Saidit. I am certainly open to hearing a dissenting view or contrary information.

Cheers!

Speaking of "feels," this has parallels with the 1961 Cuban Missle Crisis that came very close to starting a war. Bear baiters must be careful here. Are the Deep Underground Military Bases (DUMBs) ready? Do any of us have access? I doubt it.

I thought something similar, but current day Russia is not equal to 1960s' USSR.
