hi i'm ex 6.5 year vegan.

humans do need animal protein i'm sorry to say. this meme still breaks my heart tho.

but its important to not fall for the vegan propaganda - unnessacaty animal cruelty should not be conflaited with the vegan movement. it ultimatly sets the movement back. the truth is that we need to eat a lot less meat and more plants. and the truth is all that should matter.

i wrecked my health falling for the propaganda... pls try to understan that vegan is an agenda not sure whose but they are not good people.

peace yall

hi i'm ex 6.5 year vegan.

There's many reasons you could have felt sick and then switched diets and felt better- it's unfair to assume that whatever made you feel worse was plant protein.

Let's break down some animal protein myths, in a few parts"

You've probably heard protein described only as good & healthy.

YSK high protein = more cancer.

  • "High-Protein Diet Raises Cancer Risk As Much As Smoking. People who eat a high-protein diet during middle age are more likely to die of cancer than those who eat less protein, a new study finds"

https://www.livescience.com/43839-too-much-protein-help-cancers-grow.html

There's lots of complete protein plants.

A few plants with complete protein include:

And so on. There's lots of rare grains that have complete protein.

Similarly:

  • "If you swap all that animal protein for an equally diverse diet of plant-based proteins like nuts, seeds, and beans, you are no worse off. That's because these foods are also packed full of a similar spectrum of nutrients."

https://www.popsci.com/plant-protein-healthier/

In other words, if you felt you lacked complete protein (as a vegetarian) the only way you could have done that is avoiding examples like the above- avoiding a balanced diet.

Next, plant protein is healthier:

  • "Plant protein has more nutrients and fiber... pound-for-pound, they pack more nutrients into fewer calories. They also have one thing that animal proteins completely lack: fiber. (Except for things like tofu, which is processed, Giancoli notes.) Let’s not forget the fiber. Fiber aids in digestion, promotes a healthy gut microbiome, and is strongly associated with lower cardiovascular disease risk."

https://www.popsci.com/plant-protein-healthier/

  • "One recent such analysis in the Journal of the American Medical Association noted that "Substitution of plant protein for animal protein, especially from processed red meat, may confer a substantial health benefit" and advised that policies promote plant proteins."

https://www.popsci.com/plant-protein-healthier/

I'm sure (if you're against vegetables) that you've seen lots of "studies" saying saturated fat isn't unhealthy, these studies are misleading. They are comparing random food (eg cake) to saturated fat instead of healthier fats and complex carbohydrates:

The Australian Heart Foundation:

"Is saturated fat healthy now?

What has fuelled much of the interest in fat are studies which find that saturated fat is not associated with heart disease. And if there is no association, then saturated fat must be healthy, right? But is this really the case?

The short answer is ‘no’. Reducing saturated fat alone, without considering what it is replaced with may not be beneficial and doesn’t tell the whole story...

Evidence demonstrates that reducing saturated fat and replacing it with unsaturated fat improves cardiovascular risk factors and reduces the risk of heart disease. Next, replacing it with wholegrains improves some cardiovascular risk factors and reduces the risk of heart disease but not to the same extent as unsaturated fat. Next, replacing it with refined carbohydrate does not improve cardiovascular risk and does not reduce the risk of heart disease."

Eskimos:

Similarly, YSK Eskimos have high rates of cardiovascular disease. And they always have- even hundreds of years ago - which we know because frozen bodies found of eskimo people had cardiovascular disease.

Low carb diets are sick in like every way.

Low carb diets are linked to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc compared to vegans:

ScienceAlert.com:

Researchers who presented at that conference studied the self-reported eating patterns of nearly 25,000 people in the US and compared their results with studies involving more than 447,500 people.

Again, they found that those who ate a moderate amount of carbohydrates were more likely to live longer than either low-carb or high-carb dieters.

Our study suggests that in the long-term, [low-carb diets] are linked with an increased risk of death from any cause, and deaths due to cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, and cancer," Maciej Banach, a professor at the Medical University of Lodz in Poland who helped write the study, said in a release."

Cyrus Khambatta: (Nutritional Biochemist PhD)

“There are a whole host of studies now showing that people who eat low carbohydrate diets, diets that are high in meat especially processed meat over a long period of time from 5 years, to anywhere to 15 years, end up suffering increase risk from chronic diseases, like hypertension, high cholesterol (atherosclerosis risk) chronic kidney disease, hypothyroidism, cognitive decline (risk for Alzheimer’s/dementia) later In life, insulin resistance, diabetes, cancer, you name it.”

Diabetes:

The people most likely to recover and avoid diabetes are people on low fat diets with lots of starches, eg rice like the Japanese.

The study mentioned here was published by the American Diabetes Association, showing that low fat diets (despite eating rice, carbs, sugars, etc) reduce diabetes. This is essentially just doing what Japan has been doing for many decades where they have some of the lowest diabetes rates in the world.

Dairy:

Similarly, we were all told we need dairy. (eg for bone health and so on.) YSK many asians never consume it and are fine.

Similarly, the Canadian government is now promoting plant based proteins and they no longer consider dairy as a healthy food group.

Lost benefits:

Consider the endless studies linking plants to good health. eg:

  • "People who eat diets that are high in fiber have lower risk of death and chronic diseases such as stroke or cancer compared with people with low fiber intake, a new analysis found." [1]

pls try to understan that vegan is an agenda not sure whose but they are not good people.

Wow, vegans are "not good people."

oh dear... i used to believe all that.

its a cult based on lies. hope you can find your way. peace.

So the Australian Heart Foundation is part of the "cult of bad people, based on lies?"

You went from saying vegans are "bad people" to now saying we're a "cult based on lies."

Please be more serious. You have to be honest with yourself.

If you got sick on a vegan diet that does not mean veganism was at fault. Even if you started eating cow guts and then felt better that still doesn't mean veganism was at fault. There's many reasons why you individually could have felt bad which are reactions to things you were eating (and how you were eating them.)

But if you get on a cow/pig guts diet you are guaranteed to be on an unhealthy diet.

humans do need protein and theres not enough in plants.... also when i was vegan my mind was not working correctly. and because it wasn't working correctly i couldn't even tell it wasn't. this is the same for most vegans... the depession and anxiety creeps up and you think its normal.

i used to be much much too squemish too... any thought of things dying would reduce me to tears. this is not normal. i would never survive the world if it wasn't so domesticated.

now i'm back to normal i can see clearly again. i hope you will one day too. things die my dude. its no big deal. (this statement of truth will most likely upset you)

humans do need protein and theres not enough in plants.

If you can't find high protein plants then you're not paying attention. There's no debate here, please pay more attention to food labels.

[–]swordofdamocles42 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

vegans can't except reality. you were told beans contain enough protein and you just excepted that without proof. thats propagander 101.

you can subsist on a vegan diet that is true. and its also true that the initial cleansing of the gut does give you superpowers for a good year or 2.

honestly friend , the truth is the right balance of plants and meats. for most i would say around 80% plants but everyone is different and needs to find their own balance. just try an ethical egg or some sushi..... you will feel the boost of power and go plant based overnight.

peace
