They should move to the US (everyone else is!) the bottom 47% of Americans pay zero in tax.

I would agree that one would perhaps prefer to live in the US, for many reasons, and the forms of taxes noted in the article are highter in the UK but it's worth pointing out that there are other significant costs to living in the US that one does not face in the UK, if one is in the bottom 47%:

Health insurance is VERY expensive - or if you have it via work &c - it doesn't cover all of the expenses for certain problems (health coverage free in the UK)

One needs a car in most of the US, which is expensive, and in NYC and the largest metro areas, public transportation is expensive (in many densely populated areas in the UK, public transportation is reliable)

Free access to TV gets one only 2 or 3 channels that aren't interesting, at best, in many areas, and thus people have to pay for cable or internet access to entertainment (in the UK there is reasonable access to dozens of "free view" channels without having to purchase cable or internet access to entertainment, but there is the damn TV tax of £150/year)
