Very compelling article. Thank you for sharing it. This statement hits the crux of the issue:

"She’d (Lenya Quinn-Davidson) like to get Californians back closer to the fire culture in the Southeast where, she said, “Your average person goes out back with Grandpa, and they burn 10 acres on the back 40 you know, on a Sunday.” Fire is not just for professionals, not just for government employees and their contractors. Intentional fire, as she sees it, is “a tool and anyone who’s managing land is going to have prescribed fire in their toolbox.”

Californians seems to be completely unable to do anything for themselves and rely on their nanny gov't to care for all aspects of their adult-lives. We don't have mega-fires in the SE for this exact reason. Our culture is ok with prescribed burns and we don't lean on our gov'ts only to do them for us.

Let California burn. They can always rebuild.
