Why bother? Logistically, it's too close to China itself, allowing short-range incoming missile strikes and very short supply lines for them. Besides, how many in Taiwan want to be part of China? Let them take it and see if it causes problems on the mainland. The whole CCP could be disrupted if as yet unknown factors line up. I do care about loss of life during an invasion of Taiwan but I think that would be minimal. There is no need for the US to fly off the handle.
