It's called the "concupiscable appetite." He seems to have lost control over himself, sadly. Nobody ever taught him how to discipline his desires, and it's unfortunate because perhaps he wouldn't be such a turd if he could

Trump taps Jewish allies Stephen Miller, Lee Zeldin for top roles in administration by neolib in USPolitics

[–]neolib[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Miller, himself the descendant of Jewish immigrants, married Katie Waldman, who is also Jewish and took his last name, at the Trump DC hotel during the incoming president’s first term. The wedding was officiated by Rabbi Aryeh Lightstone, who played a role in the Trump administration’s Abraham Accords normalization agreements between Israel and several of its Arab neighbors.

...

During his 2022 election campaign, Zeldin leaned into his Jewish background to rally Orthodox communities, telling voters in Brooklyn about how his grandfather founded a synagogue and how his mother taught at a Brooklyn yeshiva. At the time, the yeshiva system was facing accusations from the media and activists that it was failing to meet the state’s secular education standards, which became a top issue for Orthodox voters.

Zeldin joined the board of the Republican Jewish Coalition shortly after the gubernatorial election.

Seems to me Giuliani was merely another corrupt NYC politician until 9/11, when he began to promote himself in every photo-op and discussion as somehow THE person who took charge during 9/11, whereas the opposite was often considered the case, and while not supporting - if only verbally - the 64000+ who suffered from cancer thereafter. Few other politicians have tried to milk one event more than Giuliani. After 9/11, he was irrelevant until joining Trump as senior lapdog/PR troll. One should look for Russian money in his accounts. He should be in jail for arranging 62 frivolous 2020 election lawsuits, costing taxpayers $millions in avoidable court cases. His daughter 'lost' him in 2001, one could argue, though especially after he joined Trump.

Not to drag this discussion on too much, but we know Trump was no different than he's been in all of his campaign speeches. We've heard it all before. We know what he would do as president. Hence a large proportion of voters for Harris want "anyone but Trump." Famous Republicans are also endorsing Harris. Trump's debate performance was exactly what most people expected. The pressure was on Harris to show everyone how she'd deal with the situation. It was one of the most interesting debates in history, and I think one of significant consequence. We'll see.

I think the polls tend to get the opinions mostly from older people, who I think make up the majority of Trump's supporters. Many of his supporters are complaining that he was not prepared and that she did better than expected. To your point, her general average national lead dipped slightly in recent weeks, so it will be interesting to see in a few days if the debate reversed that slight downward trend, and if she can develop that momentum. I think her biggest challenge is to become more relatable to the average American in the swing states, many of whom are incredibly shallow and uninformed. For decades most Americans haven't focused much on politics, and indeed Trump's platform only has a "concept of a plan" as he puts it, while he tries to claim Harris has no plan (which however is online and she discussed). The MSM I've watched in the past few hours stupidly give Taylor Swift's comment equal importance in their analysis of the debate, while also quoting Musk, while avoiding the much of the substance of the comments in the debate. The MSM are however enjoying the Trump comment about migrants eating cats and dogs. I worry about the dumbing-down of politics in the US by the MSM.

Though the polls aren't ready, I think it will help to look at the poll numbers for 'independant' voters. Last week, Harris had an 8 point lead among independants (and she's had a 4 point national lead for a month). Anyone watching the debate saw the typical angry old man avoiding answers to questions, making false and ridiculous claims, and using the same old divisive, violent rhetoric. It's an exhausting 8-year disgraceful trend that's annoyed - I'd argue - the majority of voters. Millions of viewers unfamiliar with Harris got an introduction to her approaches, proposals, debate skills, sense of humor, and in general her ability to deal with Trump's word salads of lies. He was so nervous about his performance that he later appeared on the 'Spin Room' floor to meet journalists before going to Fox for an interview. That was a first, at least in the memories of most everyone who saw it. Trump's performance was a gift to Harris's campaign because any independant would have appreciated that Harris was the only person on the stage who has the ability to be a reliable US president. She made it crystal clear that she'd represent Americans in general, whereas Trump is obviously weak, whiney, divisive, dishonest, old, boring, crazy, stupid, disgraceful, a fraud, grifter, rapist, felon, and unable to answer questions.

Edit: here's Stewart's response, which partially notes indirectly the importance of indepentant voters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtHn59wqdBc

That specific tax would be only for those few who make $100 million/year (hence they're paying for this youtube misinformation). This tax on "unrealized capital gains" refers to a tax on an increase in value for an asset that a person hasn’t sold yet.

Kennedy's claim of a New York address as his "place of residence" on nominating petitions was a "false statement", said Judge Christina Ryba.

As a result, the petitions were considered invalid. Mr Kennedy has rejected the judge's ruling and vows to appeal.

If the ruling is upheld, it would not only bar Mr Kennedy from the New York ballot but could also lead to challenges in other states where he uses that address.

...

“Given the size and appearance of the spare bedroom as shown in the photographs admitted into evidence, the Court finds Kennedy’s testimony that he may return to that bedroom to reside with his wife, family members, multiple pets, and all of his personal belongings to be highly improbable, if not preposterous,” the judge wrote.

Think for a second of the job of the public servant who is supposed to represent your interests in a government. They're supposed to help people. They're supposed to support the 99%, reproductive rights, access to a good public education, help with worker protections, and make voting easier for everyone in the 'democracy'. He's done all of that. He's literally the opposite of Trump and Republcans who work ONLY for themselves and their sugar daddies.

I wonder what Saiditors will think of Walz. Ain't no flies on him. But is he too progressive for neo-nazis? A good summary about him:

Massive investment in public education, including free school lunch

Protections for reproductive rights and gender affirming care

Increased worker protections and paid leave

Automatic voter registration and restoring the voting rights of felons

Legalizing cannabis and expunging prior convictions

And much more. He also coined the “weird” line that the DNC has been so effectively using against Trump and the GOP. He’s a rock solid pick and affirms, in my view, that Harris really cares about the issues affecting modern American citizens and families.

Yep, and in Kamala's world, on Mon, Wed, and Fri, she's a Taco Bell.

On Tues, Thurs, and Sat, she's a Pizza Hut.

On Sun, she's both.

Like I said, it depends on whoever she's pandering to.

She's not. Or is she? Nobody seems to know.

I guess it depends on which group you're pandering to on any particular day.

Apparently it's impossible to remove USPS Board of Governors members until their term is up. And there's Republicans there who support the voter suppression that is his agenda.

It's taken this long to get enough people against voter suppression on the board.

I hope they can move him on in time to get the damage he's been doing repaired for the mail in ballots.

In review of her past nothing but miserable incompetence is what I see.

She's got strength of character. As DA of California, in particular she has stood strong on not seeking the death penalty, in the face of considerable political and union push-back.

Disliked by those who know her

I don't think that's true. Her husband's ex-wife has spoken out in support of her. That's got to be an endorsement few people could claim.

and acts like a Royal Queen to her staff causing a massive quit-rate hovering at 95% of all who were employed on her staff to quit.

The almost 92% staff turnover does seem to speak of poor people-management. I wonder what the usual range is over 4 years for a vice-president's staff.

For further review all one has to do is look to her governance of San Fran as a Prosecuting Attorney and her miserable results can be plainly seen.

Her record looks progressive but firm. Do you have an issue with something particular?

But since Donald Trump refused to accept the outcome of the 2020 election, Republicans have yet to course correct. The Republican Party with Trump at its helm continues down the path of political extremism, away from focusing on our fundamental freedoms.

Now more than ever, we need leaders who will put country over party.
