They've gotten to thinking that they're untouchable because of their favored/protected status in society, so they can just act out and answer any accusations or criticism with the magic words "homophobia" and "transphobia" (as applicable), which will instantly shut down the opposition. And, in some fairness, that mindset isn't exactly wrong because that's just how it has been for the last several years now.

What they fail to realize is, every single instance of QWERTY creeps being outed like this is chipping away at that status, and the chips are getting bigger every time it happens.
