Giving in to terrorism is the wrong choice and Target made a huge mistake,

Nice misuse of the word terrorism there, shit-for-brains. Also funny how utterly blind you are to the vile hate and literal death threats spewing out of the rainbow mafia these days, which I'm pretty sure constitutes the terrorism you were complaining about.

I like this comment, have to quote it in case someone gets butthurt and summons the mods.

Thats why companies are stupid for wading into the social / political issues. Everything is tribal. The second a company chooses a side - they instantly alienate the other side. Its especially wild when corporations side with the left. They don't have any money. They all got student loans and debt and are miserable.

The right has all the disposable income since most didn't go to college. They got blue collar jobs out of HS and make good money. They invest and shop at target. So its wild that target goes against their customer base with their donations and ad campaign and activism.

Yeah that 'terrorism' comment just shits me. Choosing not to spend your money at a store is 'terrorism' now? I see this kind of hyperbole all over Reddit when it comes to trans stuff.

The comment about right/left strikes me as only half true. I don't think it's accurate that people who didn't go to college are necessarily making more money. If anything stores like Target attract demographics which are strapped for cash. Its also not a strict right/left divide. I'd wager there's a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum who aren't in to tucking onesies.

That said, it's true that they - like Budweiser - are alienating their core customer base.

Actually, Target was supposedly the recipient of violent threats against employees. I say "supposedly" because as seems to be the case whenever the rainbow mafia gets threatened these days, there's a lot of social media mentions about the violence they're enduring but precious few police mentions.

But on the opposite side, Target has always been positioned as slightly classier than Walmart. Where Walmart attracts all the demographics that are strapped for cash, there's always been that image that Walmart is the "trashy" store, Target is the "upper-lower-middleclass" one.

(This ties to why Target would skew to the woke side; there's more poor people who think they're so fucking special and have the attitude of the bourgoisie with the bank account of the proletariat who skew woke.)

Comments are pretty based - pointing out that Target is likely playing politics to deflect from cuts that they were planning anyway.

I went into target today and made sure to look around out of curiosity. They actually did have a pride display at the front door but if was very muted and i might not have noticed if i hadn't been paying attention. Also I saw absolutely zero trans stuff. It was basically pride messaging mixed with beach vibes.
