Well, Talcum X is fighting that fight every day of his life, so someone believes it.

The simple answer to this question is that you can't choose your race because black people have collectively said 'No' to attempts to do this.

If women had collectively taken the same stance on sex & gender, we wouldn't be where we are.

Even more than that, it seems like this is the white person's version of "punching up vs. punching down": If it becomes clear that at the moment that between feminism, equity, and inclusivity have led to the educated, well-off, pretty white woman becoming the most powerful group on the planet- then an educated, then a man who is trying to become a educated, well-off, pretty white woman is punching up.

By contrast, that idiot white kid who loves the new Drake album and is just asking to be Black so they can say the N-word while his rap is going on, or that weeb who can't get enough anime or K-Pop and decided this makes them Asian...they're punching down in an attempt to change.

The transracial force is strong in this one.

Something about the "dark side of the force", and those luscious reparation dollars.

Go ahead 'progressives'; add lifestyle choices and "perceptions" to the immutable characteristics that used to form the basis for Civil-Rights protections.

Because if "everyone" can have it; nobody has it.

What is race? That's the question then.

Race is a lot more vague than sex so it's not entirely unheard of someone to "choose their racial identity" especially in terms of people who are born from interracial relationships and have an ambiguous appearance.

Regardless there's several things that must be considered. Obviously one cannot change their genetics, however culture is a different matter and one can choose to adopt a different culture or cultural practices if they wish.

Contrary to popular belief race is more of a socially defined construct than a genetic one. I hold the idea that there's only one race of humans, and that there is just variation within that. You can get a good idea of where someone's ancestors were from by looking at them, but you can't really deduce any certain conclusions about them beyond that.

If we wish to reduce race to simply be skin color then I suppose we could say a tanning salon is a trans-racial clinic.

That's PC nonsense. Humans are like dogs, all the same species but with drastically different breeds (races) with distinct morphologies, behavior patterns, and apptitudes.

Behavior is way more malleable than physical traits. You can see that with how many dogs have been repurposed in just a few generations. And think about German Shepherds and Doberman Pinschers, how not too long ago most were very aggressive, but now they're not really a problem. On the flipside some pit bull bloodlines are turning more aggressive, because people are wanting that for some reason and have been breeding them for it.
