Sexual assault or terrorism, it's only a matter of time before this fucker escalates to raping and/or killing someone.

Yep. I’m not usually a believer in the escalation theory, I think it suffers from serious confirmation bias but fuck this guy, even if this is the worst he ever does, it’s still fucking sick and traumatic for the people he does it to, he either should be sectioned and given psychiatric treatment or put away for the safety of others.

I don't think the escalation rules true for everyone but I do think once you've had someone who has crossed the line to actually doing this shit in public they're likely to progress towards more outrageous behavior if left unchecked.

I think it works much like an addiction same with drugs or alcohol. Most people who drink alcohol, or hell even use drugs won't get addicted. But some will and they'll lose control over their lives and live for the drug instead.

In this case the high is simply sexually derived rather than ingested or injected.

I am extremely suspicious of everything to do with criminal psychology and in particular the psychology promoted by adherents to the FBI behavioural psychology stuff.

I heartily recommend reading Malcolm Gladwell’s New Yorker article on the subject. It’s long but it blows all the Cracker/Criminal Minds/etc shit out of the water. It’s almost criminal how much influence the FBI crap has had on crime detection.

Yeah clearly they're using a lot of Freudian nonsense in that piece. Anyone with a lick of sense can understand how rediculous it is. "The guy was sexually frustrated because he was penetrating the chairs when he hid bombs in them"

Uh no, he was cutting the chair open to hide bombs because otherwise he couldn't hide the bomb inside the chair, duh.

You might be able to glean some insights into a criminals personality by the clues left behind but it's just educated guesses at best. Like in this case I have no clue why the guy is doing it. Maybe he isn't sexually turned on by this and is just a massive wanker who wants to annoy people. Doesn't really matter, guy has crossed the line into being a menace to navigation, reasons for why are irrelevant.
