Snickering is such a weird word. Sniggering is the the correct word for those that aren’t the type to think “niggardly” is a racial slur.

And Zooey Zephyr is a man, was a man and will always be a man.

The Montana House of Representatives last week voted to censure Zephyr, Montana's first openly transgender lawmaker. The vote came in response to Zephyr criticizing her Republican colleagues for restricting access to gender-affirming care.

Ok, but what was actually said? This article makes it seem very mild.

"If you are forcing a trans child to go through puberty when they are trans, that is tantamount to torture. This body should be ashamed," Zephyr said.

Ok, on that part i actually agree that it's hyperbolic as is usual for them but it's actually quite mild. But the Republicans seemed to get all worked up by the last part. They aren't mad about the "torture " comment. They are mad that Zoofey said they should be ashamed.

"I speak on behalf of our caucus. We will not be shamed by anybody in this chamber. We are better than that," Vinton said.

Bro get over yourself, who cares about that comment?

"If you vote yes on this bill, I hope the next time there's an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands," Zephyr responded.

Ok. Now it's a bit out there but still... Not that big a deal. So the nthe republicans wrote a letter being big mad about the disrespectful language. Of course the Democrats then need to take it to the next level of stupidity.

"The language used by the so-called Freedom Caucus, including the intentional and repeated misgendering of Rep. Zephyr, is blatantly disrespectful and the farthest thing imaginable from the 'commitment to civil discourse' that these letter writers demand. I find it incredibly ironic that these legislators are making demands of others that they refuse to abide by themselves," Abbott said.

So the Democrats are now not angry about a threat of censorship but because Zoofey was "misgendered" in the letter.

They asked for an apology.

"When the speaker asks me to apologize on behalf of decorum, what he is really asking me to do is be silent when my community is facing bills that get us killed," Zephyr said. "He's asking me to be complicit in this legislature's eradication of our community and I refuse to do so, and I will always refuse to do so."

Once again hyperbolic idiocy but whatever. But then...

After that they voted to censure. So ooooffff course the top level article is lying. The person wasn't censored for criticizing. It was after they joined a protest to interrupt the vote.
