Exactly 300 characters. Now that I am proud of. But what I'm not proud of is the horrible misgendering that causes billions of twitter addicts to feel uncomfortable on a daily basis. That's why we need to stand up against the tyranny of pronouns! Join me and potentially trillions of other trans people on April 31st at 25:00 GMT for the "trans day of visibility" where by a massive protest to show the burning pain of misgendering to the world! Don't sit around complaining about how much it hurts on the internet. Take a page from the real heroes of the past protesting the Vietnamese war with an effective and non-violent form of protest. Don't just say that transphobia leads to suicide. Show them!

So a legislator broke the rules of the chamber and got a smack on the wrist and people are acting like they’ve been sentenced to death?

Legislators breaking the rules of their chamber to make a point is quite common, but they usually just accept their punishment as the price of amplifying their message - see Mace-grabbers/swingers in the House of Commons attacking the Mace which is the symbol of The Crown in Parliament (there’s another on in the House of Lords) and without which the Chamber cannot sit.

I do get the impression that US democratic assemblies could benefit from the sort of rowdy debate that occurs in Parliament - being heckled whilst they give a speech is good for democracy in my opinion. A bit of banter keeps everyone on their toes, and stops the politicians from getting too big for their boots.

British style parliamentary banter in the American congress would be very hilarious. Mostly because of all the fake outrage it would generate.

Gotta be careful with the Americans though. They don't have a sense of humor. Too many German descendents there. I remember once I was with a group of Americans and Germans and the ghastly topic of politics was brought up, naturally I reasoned the best point of conversation is how the Germans should be proud of Donald Trump's wall building plan as a tribute to the wisdom of the German industrial spirit and the great success of their own wall. Walls after all surround us and force us together making our communal bonds stronger!

This of course went over as well as a terminal cancer diagnosis brought by Doctor Hitler himself. Which was such a hilarious reaction that it warranted repeating the bit several times for the benefit of those who may not have laughed the first time.

They think telling them they can’t do something is akin to trying to murder them. They think they are untouchable. Trooning out is too hard for them to resist. They get to live their fetish openly and benefit (usually) from the social power play that comes with it.
