Once this "gender euphoria" social trend goes away (as all invariably do), there are going to be a lot of regretful mutilated ex-trannies out at the hardware store buying rope.

I feel quite sad for a lot of them tbh. Imagine just being an autistic kid who thinks they've found an accepting community and they FINALLY know why they feel so weird about something. Only it's not. You think the problem is you need to go further, all of your friends from that community say yeah that's it. The issue is you haven't gone far enough yet. Just get the hormones/surgery and you'll feel better. You get it all. You still feel wrong. Your community turns on anyone that questions it and you only have them for support at this point so you pretend it's helped. If you leave you'll have no one and still all the problems that come from the issue that happened with the surgeries (the issues that you can't talk about in case it discourages others from finding their true selves, after all it's rare that something goes wrong. Sucks for you)

Back in the day people like that would just get a red Mohawk and hang out with other people with Mohawks. The nice thing about that was that the hair grew back when you were done with your phase.

Indeed, no going back from todays version. I think that's why I'm sad for them. If I was stuck with my teenage decisions or was allowed to make significant choices at that age? I'd be a complete mess.

It's a self perpetuating problem much like a cult. Preys on the disaffected claiming to have the ultimate answer to happiness provided one follows the precepts of the cult, in this case hormones and surgery, this strains the relationships with friends and family who don't buy it and of course the cult recommends you cut all contact with anyone who expressed opinions other than true belief. Now the person joining the cult is essentially all in on that life path and the sunk cost fallacy comes into play, admitting that you don't feel happy or you have regrets loses you your new social group, you've already lost your old social group, you've got nothing, and you are essentially branded as a cult member by the physiological changes which will make reintegration into society more difficult.

Humans will under such circumstances not consider things logically, it's the classic toxic religious cycle of "if you feel bad, just pray harder" which can turn into a kind of reality denying drug in its own right. Those people in on it must tell themselves their path is correct and very passionately fight anyone who might cast doubt on that. The new people coming up through the ranks will see the detractors and be the youthful energy to fight the "heretics" as they are fully ideologically devoted to the idea, not having enough experience to make their own opinions on it, but only believing the promises of those who claim to hold the one secret to happiness.

Unlike cults turned legitamate religion, it's far too young and chaotic to have formed a corpus of literature and teachings that can provide a stabilizing effect on it, so there are no real institutions or bodies controlling it, it's much more akin to a mob mentality though occasionally certain voices are amplified via social media which chooses the saints and heretics of this new "religion".

I think there's a lot of truth behind the idea that "there were always a lot of people like this, and the lack of stigma simply allowed them to be their "true selves" in a matter of speaking. Rather I think that certain issues such as mild gender disphoria where more or less common amongst teenagers going through puberty, especially in women, but they lacked the ability to share their inner thoughts with the whole world. So essentially we've allowed the teenagers to form their own kind of social structure divorced from larger society and removed from having more experienced and cemented identities contributing to the conversations, instead they are filed into various special interest bubbles influenced by the algorithms which are very good at figuring out shared interests in ways that would never before encounter each other.

But it's important to hold onto historical perspective and realize that while the technology is different and society hasn't adapted to it yet. It's not entirely unprecedented in strange trends becoming normalized by one reason or another. Though the pace is likely significantly faster. You saw similar bizarre trends become commonplace in the 1800's. One is the rise of the kind of the typically American Christian cults. Mormons being the most obvious. But of lesser public awareness is the baptist ideal of the pre-tribulation rapture which didn't exist in Christianity until the mid 1800's in America but today you will find that most of the vocal evangelical types believe very strongly that it has been what christians have always believed, and the disagreement over it will utterly split churches regardless of the fact there are no biblical passages alluding directly towards it.

Another is the prevalence of male circumcision in American society which seems an equally illogical social trend.

It's entirely intentional: It's alluring (to a certain type, I suppose), especially those already propagandized and therefore predisposed to accept it, but once they enter it's very difficult to leave for one reason or another, and this effect only gets worse the further down the rabbit hole they go.

Apparently things like drugs and crime weren't enough, I guess the tranny shit is more marketable and profitable.

I always remember that term from Sophie Labelle, who, I must mention at every opportunity, traced a real baby's photo for a babyfur with a saggy diaper leering at the camera, and whose sexuality revolves around pretending to be a babyfur with a saggy diaper

no, I will not link it, this is how the Butlerian Jihad began

Honestly for me, it's so hard to know where or if this gender madness will end.To me,while it's good the majority of people seem to be against it, it feels like the mainstream left in the west,MSM,schools, medical industry is captured by this insanity and wont stop until everyone is perfectly ok with kids chopping off healthy organs to embrace a delusion that'll never be achieved.i just don't understand how anyone can support this madness when i've seen the surgeries and it'll make you wonder how this is normal.

It will end. There'll be a rough ride between now and then and I don't know how many years will be in-between, but at some point, people are going to look back on this and agree that society lost its collective mind for a while.

It makes for shocking reading when the facts are laid out like this, people like Jon Stewart and John Oliver can go and fuck themselves, the sanctimonious, holier than though, groomers.

I might go off on a tangent here but all this talk about data and studies makes me wonder what would happen if some researcher gave people who think they are trans placebos instead of actual hormones. Especially to the non-binary crowd. I think the results of that would be interesting. Although in the current year of the rainbow an experiment like that would be a (trans-) human rights violation, even with volunteering participants.

Ignoring the rainbow issues for a moment. I’ve written clinical trial ethics committee applications and whilst I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to do a trial using placebos you have to design it very, very carefully to get it authorised by a local research ethics committee or institutional review board and it’s the same in all fields of medicine- placebos are tricky ethically because it very quickly becomes lying to a patient and you cannot do that.

I’ve seen placebo trial designs where patients are doubly-blind assigned along two arms, placebo then test drug on one arm and test drug then placebo on the other, I’ve also seen trials where patients are straight up told they’re going to receive a placebo and I’ve seen trials where the patients are told they might receive a placebo.

For this crowd you probably couldn’t do an open placebo, but you might get them to agree to the placebo + trial drug one, where they receive both and just don’t know which they’re getting at any one point.

I suspect that the placebo has just as good outcome on the social contagion type troons, but will do nothing for the AGP type who will be fixated on breast development etc.

AGPs tend to develop later in life. These are the 55 yr old men who suddenly decide to transition.

I just don't get that they don't get that they'll become a Mengele Chick. At that age you'd think they understand they'll simply be a mutilated man who kinda looks like a woman when it's dark out and not a real woman.

It's weird that trans people look so off. When cross dressers usually can pull it off way better...

I wonder how much of a role instagram and TikTok filters have in this. If they’re using selfies to validate themselves then maybe they start to think they actually look that way and therefore don’t put as much effort in as the old school transvestites did in the pre-filter days.

Feminists (ie 2nd wave types) have long discussed the link to pornography. The AGPs specifically have an extremely toxic view of what a woman is. They think women are brainless sex dolls and they act out their womanface in that style after the 57 TB of porn they have saved stops giving them the same excitement.

I suspect that testosterone does actually make women feel better in the short term. Since the psychological consequences of higher testosterone do mean higher self confidence. Of course it also means higher aggression, and the long term physiological effects as well as the issues of what happens when the brain becomes adapted to higher testosterone levels are not well understood I think. At least not in women.

[–]Wanderingthehalls 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The thing that gets me about transmen is that they almost never work out, as in consistent resistance training. Almost none of them go to the effort of widening their delts and building their biceps through exercise. I'm not saying that muscular women look like men unless they are using steroids/testosterone. But there would surely be some relief from dysphoria that would come from having a strong muscular upper body. And doing movements most associated with men, due to their significantly higher upper body strength, like lifting heavy weights, 60 push-ups or even 1 pull-up. Women even experience a boost in testosterone from that kind of exercise.

You do see a handful of buff transmen, Buck Angel being the most obvious. And there is one with an ugly chin beard who shills for Saidhbh Gallagher. But they mostly don't because they very, very obviously don't have dysphoria. And the sad thing is, that while body building does have the potential to become mentally unhealthy, for the most part the exercise improves mental health greatly. So a lot of these young women would just settle more into their bodies if they started to exercise.

I've been wondering the same. Taking hormones is a very strange act and seems motivated by the urge to become more like gender x because they make more of x hormone but I'm not so sure all their specific effects are what's truly wanted. So, placebo would be interesting. Also I'm sure physiology is more complex than just estrogen and testo.

I don't think the trans are 'lying', these people are delusional and have been propagandized by a cult to feed their delusions. People who are delusional are telling the truth as best as they understand it. But yes the media are lying, they just say whatever the party line is, and the DNC knows trannies and their allies are loyal party activists
