These meat sacks won't be going to war to 'defend' the US, but the upside is that a war might be prevented by the fit-for-service people refusing to put their lives on the line if this is the version of America that they're expected to defend.

No, the real upside is there's been a bunch of these people who have talked about their plans to betray the US in favor of the invader and tried to find how they can do so, even though they have absolutely no benefit to them.

So, when the war happens, they'll become the other country's problem and the fit-for-service people can fight freely.

The leaders of the coup do not plan on having a utopia of justice as equals.
They want a society of equality of slavery of the majority, ruled from the shadows by a elite minority.

The true believers must be eliminated after the takeover, because they will rebel when they realize they were used/deceived.

Standard practice in violent communist/socialist takeovers.

And these people know as well, but they ignore it because they go past "they truly believe" and go to "they cannot possibly fathom a result of the revolution that isn't them, personally, as ruler of the elite minority." There can be infinite infinities of multiverses, including ones created by me positing their existence, and in their mind none of them end without them, personally, getting to be Stalin.
