As a gay man myself, I'm tired of all the forced tokenism. I think, "Oh, great, another gay character there just to tick a box on someone's diversity spreadsheet."

I call it "farting glitter": even the worst twank floor meat doesn't think about being flamboyantly gay as much as US/Canada midlevel school administrators seem to; middle schoolers are inherently embarrassed about every damn thing and crammed together like sardines anyway, so why NOT repaint the gym rainbow colors for a whole month and try and out all the gay students?

presumably that's why they're so keen on puberty blockers, it's so much easier for the activist parents and teachers when "gay" doesn't need to involve those nasty SEXUAL URGES, nu?

and the WORST thing they could do is make another gay toddler board book or take 6-10yos to a gay bar, but like that Smithsonian infographic about how them Blacks can't be expected to speak proper or show up for their jobs they really can't help themselves because their brains have been "affirmed" into silly putty

I want to study more about the ancient Chinese court here. There's some interesting political implications to an entrenched class of eunuchs in the imperial service becoming an effective ruling class of sort it's somewhat interesting.

Hasn’t the same been shown to be the case in every “minority” group in western media (at least in the UK and US, and probably Canada too)?

I’ve just seen an advert for a new BBC cop show set in Northern Ireland (the only routinely armed non-specialised police force in the UK) and the lead characters are two tiny women and a single soy-faced man, despite the actual PSNI being 62:38 M:F and probably the toughest British policing job what with cops being targeted for assassination and all. I was actually shocked to see that all three leads were white in the whitest part of the UK….but I’m willing to bet the male is some flavour of LGBT.
