So much fucking cope in that thread. I see that they even tried to pull the “it’s all socialisation” nonsense to explain the difference in men’s and women’s track records, and followed it up by claiming that the women are catching up with the men and that highschool boys beating Elite-tier female Olympians’ records doesn’t happen and of course “Lia didn’t do nuffink”.

Best one though:

Right, transphobes want to force trans women to undergo male puberty and then act like they did it to cheat at sports

[–]clownworlddropout 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

It's unreal the nonsense they come up with.

I don't like all this focus on "male puberty" though, we're just kicking the can down the road with that. Sooner or later these puberty blocked males are going to become a problem in sport, since puberty isn't the only thing that confers a physical advantage to males.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I doubt you’re going to get elite athletes amongst those who were given puberty blockers what with the toll they take on the body, kinda hard to sprint when your bones are crumbling.

[–]clownworlddropout 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Fair point. Still feels like a bit of a cop out but I guess it shouldn't matter.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I agree it’s a cop out, but it’s better than the situation before. So things are moving in the right direction.

Hopefully the fact that this is front page news will bring it to the attention of more people who maybe weren’t paying attention, just like the Scottish trans rapist story did in the UK.

I’m also hoping to see some politicians doorstepped with questions about it.

Regardless, the boundary doesn't need to be complicated. Got a Y chromosome? Then no women's sports. It's simple. Just takes a cheek swab in tiny fraction of a percentage of cases where there is ambiguity.

[–]IMissPorn 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Bones could be a problem, but (somewhat counter-intuitively) puberty blockers also increase height, so that could be an advantage.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Maybe they'll learn to ooze their way over the finish line?

[–]Femaleisnthateful 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

If puberty-blocked males were competitive, we should be seeing them starting to see them by now.

[–]FourteenDigitz 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

So fucking gross how they’re framing allowing a perfectly healthy body to properly develop as “forcing” them to go through the “wrong” puberty

I guess some people really resent the universe for not bending to their thoughts.

There's a slew of comments that were removed so quickly that they couldn't be archived in time :D. Mods must have been sitting in that thread, refreshing like crazy and sniping comments left and right.

I'd give it a full day, at least. Remember that a bunch of them are probably still raging at that Ana Whatshername, and you know they only have room between their ears for one thought at a time.

Somewhat relevant, but I happened to see part of an interview that Caitlyn Jenner did on the subject of trans athletes competing with actual members of whatever they're claiming, and Jenner was against it. Or, from the part that I caught, specifically against any MtF competitor who'd undergone the effects of male puberty. Jenner correctly pointed out that FtM really don't stack up against actual men in competition, and that the bulk of the problem is with the MtF crowd.

Yeah, a transman would get murdered in a rugby match. There’s that video of the transman getting absolutely destroyed by a transwoman in an NHL-sanctioned Ice Hockey match, I believe they ended up in hospital with a brain injury from a very minor check that would have barely bothered a man.

Prepare for transaggedon!

World Athletics has banned transgender female athletes from competing in the female category at international events.

The governing body's president, Lord Coe, said no female transgender athlete who had gone through male puberty would be permitted to compete in female world ranking competitions from 31 March.

A working group will be set up to conduct further research into the transgender eligibility guidelines.

"We're not saying no forever," he said.

Lord Coe added the decision was "guided by the overarching principle which is to protect the female category".

“Lord Coe” is Sebastian Coe, former Olympic long distance runner and current President of World Athletics.

And I fully believe that, despite their claim to the contrary, this is them “saying no forever” because to do anything else would be to admit that there’s evidence out there that men who have been through puberty have no physical advantages over women, which is just plain nonsense.

Interesting tidbit buried inside the reporting.

Coe added that a working group would be set up to do further research into transgender eligibility guidelines and insisted that 'we're not saying 'no' forever'.

He also announced stricter rules on athletes with differences in sex development (DSD).

Under previous regulations, DSD athletes only faced restrictions in events ranging from 400 metres to a mile, which prevented double 800 metres Olympic champion Caster Semenya from competing.

However, DSD athletes in all other events must also now reduce their testosterone levels to 2.5 nmol/L for at least six months, meaning Christine Mboma, the Olympic 200m silver medallist, is ineligible to compete at this summer's World Championships in Budapest.

They’ve finally decided that the farce of having doped athletes that just happen to have natural doping organs are not going to be able to compete without reducing their testosterone levels to that of a normal woman. Eminently sensible and a good decision.

The Caster Semenya situation was ridiculous.

Thank goodness, a little bit of sanity returns.

Well done to Lord Seb and Sharron Davies, who were presumably working very hard behind the scenes as well as in public.

I'm more of a football (soccer for you heathens) and tennis dude. Is it like some viable and worldwide governing body like FIFA for example? Or can let's say Olympics change this shit?

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

World Athletics is the FIFA of track and field events.

Their rules are used at the Olympics.

[–]cephyrious 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

The Olympics did the cowardly thing and let the individual sports decide on the trans issue. So in the Olympics, track and field will have rules based on this decision from WA.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

That’s the way the Olympics works though, they don’t make rules on any sport they defer to the sporting body as they’re the expert on the sport. All the Olympics is is an organising body that puts on the event, all the events are run by their respective sporting body.

[–]cephyrious 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Think they have the ability to overrule the higher order decisions. They decide "X a sport", so I would think they could, if they chose to, say "X is not a woman".

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No, you see that might cost them money because, just like FIFA, the IOC is really just a money-making operation. They will happily award the games to countries actively engaged in genocide in much the same way FIFA awarded a homophobic slave-state the World Cup.

they also need to test all alleged women. serena williams is obviously a man.

Who had a baby. She’s not a man, and she lost to men rated >200 in the men’s ratings.

She was also subject to random doping tests which would have detected raised testosterone if she had been a man. But, she had a fucking baby, so she’s a woman.

[–]William_World 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

unless you were in delivery room and saw a baby coming out of her vagina you can't know that for sure. It's like meghan markle, many suspect she used a surrogate, and had a baby bump fake padding on while allegedly pregnant.

I know she, and all athletes are tested for PEDs, but I've read some reasonable theories to suggest she used them and it's either undetected or quietly allowed. Some of the health scares she's had in recent years are related to PEDs usage. Obviously there are other causes, but I wouldn't be surprised if that story ever breaks.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have no problem imagining that she did use PEDs, especially as the scandals in other sports have revealed just how widespread it is in sport. She was also give TUEs for corticosteroid and opioid use at some point, the TUE system itself is suspect in a lot of sports.

Amazing! It’s almost like the World Athletics organization has a firm grasp of the obvious! I’m honestly so grateful that they are making their stand here. It’s grotesquely disingenuous for TRA’s to whine and moan that bio men should be allowed to barge into the women’s sport. They make bad faith arguments about how trans identified men somehow lose all the benefits of their manhood by injecting themselves with estrogen. But they can never adequately explain why it’s the trans identified men who seem to dominate in women’s sport yet trans identified women never seem to do anything but get obliterated by actual men in men’s sport. Because admitting what we all already know is anathema to them.

Life isn’t fair, we aren’t all equal, and just because you want something, doesn’t mean you get to ignore everyone else’s needs. Sorry, but if you went through male puberty, you just don’t get to barge into women’s spaces because you insist you “feeeeel” like a woman. Your feelings should not trump women’s right to be safe, nor should it trump their right to play in sports where fair play and good sportsmanship are honored and not ignored. If you suffer from dysphoria, I feel for you. I honestly do. That must be awful! I will actually show my respect by honoring your feminine or masculine preferred pronouns out of the goodness of my heart. But I won’t abide placing your wants before actual biological women’s needs. Because the needs of the many outweigh your solitary desires.

[–]Haylstorm 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's crazy how they ignore that not everything needs to include everyone.

They also love the line that no one cares about women's sport anyway so who cares? Then get upset that I as a woman that has done sport has an opinion that doesn't agree with them because you know I care about my sport and want other girls to enjoy it as well? They've clearly never done any sport in their life, let alone against the opposite sex or they'd know how absolutely overwhelming the male advantage is.
