The media has sensed blood in the water, they’ve finally picked up on the “if there’s different rules for rapist transwomen, then they’re not women” inconsistency. I fully expect to see a Labour politician given the same treatment as soon as one dares go on TV.

Politicians the world over are like roaches in their sense of danger, so I expect you'll be waiting a good bit for that to happen. Probably won't get one until this particular fuss is safely dead and some new outrage is occupying the proles.

I actually think this one will run and run, especially as the Greens, LibDems and Labour all supported Self-ID in the Scottish Parliament. The “what is a woman” question has been repeatedly put to Labour MPs after one tried to claim that babies are born without a sex, and every candidate in the last Labour leadership race, bar Starmer, signed the TWAW pledge - including Angela Rayner.

So I agree that normally politicians will scurry away like cockroaches when the light is turned on and emerge again only after it’s turned off, I don’t think this question is going anywhere. Just like Tories couldn’t escape tax evasion questions until Zahawi was sacked.

Huh, wonder why that one didn't. Didn't believe it, didn't want to get pinned by a signature if it ever went tits up, or something else.

Because Starmer was a Barrister and former Chief Prosecutor also the only man standing in the race, maybe?

He’s seems to have softened on it since, but it’ll be interesting to see if he returns to his old stance now that the public mood seems to have turned out to be “Hell no!”
