Shit, I don't recall which sub or subs it was, but that actually did happen around the time that the original TiA was shitcanned. And all of the replacement mods were cherry picked from the shortlist of power mods, someone did some digging and turned up proof of it (which, naturally, got nuked with the quickness after it was posted).

If you look at the mod lists on the most popular subs you'll start to notice that a couple dozen mods basically control everything on the front page. When stuff behind that starts getting popular they find ways to control that too I reckon. Or shut it down if they can't.

Also recommend you look up the /r/antiwork mod fox news interview if you missed that t's absolutely hilarious.

Mod went rogue and agreed to it afaik. Really funny. Everyone on reddit was pissed that it made them look bad, as if they needed help.

somehow fox seems more like "the real world" than reddit. people I know who don't tend to dig around on internet forums watch fox. maybe that's silly but it feels like it makes our efforts seem more real or something. that's pretty cool they got interviewed.

Fox is a mass market media company so they usually take a ostensibly right wing populist stance. It's as "real" as any other 24 hour entertainment media conglomerate is real. It's of course hilarious to watch the mod basically crumple like ice in a urinal to the most softball questions.

That, unfortunately, I can't help with. Because Reddit admins went through and scrubbed pretty much all of it, and not long afterward did the round of sub purges that got TiA and SJiA, where I first learned of this fuckery.
