Not just the TRA. There's plenty of normal people in the gay lesbian bicycle and transportation crowd, they're fine, but we don't see those people we see the crazies, since the A in LGBTQIA+ stands for asshole, or as they like to call themselves, activists.

The smart gays realized that putting forth a public image of being normal people (and many are don't get me wrong) was the best way forward to achieve their goals. However like in any group of "assholes" there's gonna be a bunch of dumb fucks that wanna push the envelope too far and unfortunately they're also the main energy and driving force to develop a movement so once that momentum starts it's gonna go straight on and overshoot it's goal until is careens miserably out of control and the opposition gets free reign to do their version of the same already well driven by their own fuel of assholes just raring to go.

Back in the 90's and the aughts the crazy gays were still out there. Hell Michael Moore did shit where he'd go drive a truck that said "Buggery Mobile" on the side and was bouncing up and down ostensibly with dudes fucking inside, straight into the middle of podunk Kansas to offend the sensibilities of the locals. And while that shit was still on the fringes and not exactly in the mainstream cultural eye the narrative of gays being normal people was what most people thought since that sort of thing was done to counter the crazy bible thumpers and infuriate them, but crazy begets crazy and bad faith arguments and grandstanding pushes a counter response. In Newtonian sense every action begets an equal and opposite reaction, in society a similar dynamic exists.

I've maintained for a very long time, that caution and small steps and going about doing things via the proper legal channels, affecting normal public opinion, and not trying to achieve top down court decisions or legislative bypassing of the popular will, was the proper way to go about implementing gay marriage or any other legal institutions that you wish to establish, because if not a backlash will ferment. And that backlash will be stronger. And if you aren't careful you risk losing all the strides you've made. If you don't properly deal with people's discontent that discontent will grow until it can no longer be contained.

It's not so simple a narrative as everything was fine until the TRA showed up. TRA exist in some form in most every social movement. Terrible Retarded Assholes.
