All she had to do was shut up and take her paychecks

And that just sums up the whole thing, doesn't it? How dare a woman have opinions? Doesn't she know she's meant to stand there and look appealing?

That thread is just lies, damned lies and falsehoods. Half of it is lazy guilt by association, where the only thing the other party is guilty of is being associated with her, a loop of association if you will. It's something I've seen too much of recently

What has Rowling actually done wrong?

She's associated with all these nasty people

Ok, and what have they done?

They've founded organisations/ written books that are nasty and trans exclusionary

Have you actually looked into the organisations or read the books?

No, but I know they're nasty and trans exclusionary because they're the kind of people associating with Rowling who's nasty and trans exclusionary

Yeah... Upon reading the tweets she got demonised for, I understood the whole thing was a bunch of bullshit. Everyone acts as if she wants to murder trannies, and then it turns out she just had a normal, moderate opinion on the matter. Not even anti trans.

[–]Datachost 29 insightful - 1 fun29 insightful - 0 fun30 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Everything short of outright celebration and conceding to all their demands is anti trans nowadays. For years they've been saying "Well just make your own rape shelters if you don't like these ones being trans inclusive" and now that Rowling has done exactly that and set up a crisis service for women only she's still getting crucified for it

Kathleen Stock got hounded out of her job and her views are as moderate as they come. She's one of the most pragmatic voices in the whole debate, but just because she says "Look, we all know we're lying really. You might think it's a nice thing to say, but nobody believes trans women LITERALLY are women nor trans men men" that makes her an evil bigot who doesn't deserve to have a job.

I like that they're still shitting on her for doing something good again. How thick do you have to be to not understand that women who have been abused by men might not want to be around them when they're vulnerable? It's either stupidity or wilful ignorance and at this point i'm leaning more towards it being intentional.

[–]jet199 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yep they want to hurt ordinary people because they despise them.

It's pretty obvious now.

[–]Wanderingthehalls 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

By Rowling making her own rape/abuse service that is for women only, she is removing the women who use her service from increasing the demand of existing services. That means that the existing services now have more ability to help the women, including transwomen who need their help. So she is actually indirectly helping those transwomen. Yet, that's a bad thing! It sort of seems as if the problem isn't transwomen who've been abused getting help. But transwomen being allowed access to abused women. Hmmmm.

almost funny how quickly things flipped for the radfems 2012-14: one day they're shutting down mixed shelters and men's campus centers with 1% the budget of the women's one and high off Tumblr fumes--nobody and I mean NOBODY was gonna stop the parthenogenic she-topia!

then a slightly different group of narcs discovers their techniques and immediately uses it against them and they're FLOORED--they were supposed to have this all to themselves!

too bad about all the men and women in actual need getting screwed over because someone at a 300-student college was upset at their dad

[–]Chipit 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

The whole thing is radfems getting a taste of their own medicine and it is glorious

[–]OuroborosTheory 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

they really had it all--rape victims to schlick to as "counselors," legal inability to rape, plush budgets, Amber Heard pulling in the big bucks, whole chaired college departments to house their glorified op-eds

then the warbling of a thousand Yanivs coming over the hill Bravehart-style on mobility scooters

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I mean she's a borderline rad-fem. But you know, excommunication only works for heresy from those in the church to begin with

[–]Newzok 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

It's puzzling to me how wokies were all about feminism and then there was a split. But remove feminism and you have nothing.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

These sorts of groups without a strong objectively consistent philosophy, can only maintain group cohesion through hatred of an enemy. Once the winds shift and the enemy is no longer considered such a threat, they inevitably will turn on each other. Whether that's entirely an organic process or one which is influenced by outside parties remains to be seen.

[–]Newzok 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I really think a lot of this shit comes from the illusion of there being a strong online following. Let's see how it fares without twitter bots backing it up. Of course, it just moves on to reddit but...

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

And that just sums up the whole thing, doesn't it? How dare a woman have opinions? Doesn't she know she's meant to stand there and look appealing?

Well of course she did a wrong think. A thought crime. You are allowed to have any opinions you want so long as your opinions are allowed. For all other opinions you are not allowed to have them.

Just look at the pinned message.

This subreddit has rules against bigotry and hatespeech. The sitewide rules prohibit the posting of bigotry and hatespeech. Rowling's views are not welcome here and neither is defending them.

That's basically them saying any dissent is hate speech. What did Rowling say that was hateful? Got a direct quote of it?

Of course asking for that might be seen as defending her? Which they've also decided is hate speech so they have banned it.

Hate speech is really just a meaningless concept that serves as an Orwellian excuse for those in power to doublethink the apparent incongruity between "we allow free speech" with "we censor speech we don't like".

All speech is allowed except for the speech that isn't allowed. Criticism is welcome unless it is not.

Yeah it's interesting how when you ask what she said you don't get what she actually said, just "it's transphobic". What I read from her absolutely wasn't unless you're a complete loon looking to be offended. I bet a lot of the people parroting the she said mean things thing don't actually know what was said.

[–]Datachost 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I don't think many of them even care as much as they pretend. They know what to say to get a round of applause and repeat it. Her games still do well, the latest Strike episode had great viewing figures. They can talk about separating the art and the artist all they like, but really they don't care.

[–]Haylstorm 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah 100% they all have copies of her latest thing, to read (totally only to find the bad parts guys, i'm not a fan i just HATE her so much i need to do this) which is amusing to say the least.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Twitter is just an angry mob. The real travesty of our modern era is that journalists reporting on the mob got sucked in and assimilated.

So many news stories now are about twitter reactions to things. Who the fuck cares? Journalists. Why? Because they are simply parroting their own opinions with social media as am excuse not to go out and actually interview people.

[–]Haylstorm 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Def feels like an "i can convince people these two lone nutjobs on the internet represent everyone and if you don't agree with them (and me) you're wrong and bad" thing imo.

Got to love JK, she knows exactly where she stands—on the right side of history—and she doesn't give a shit how much noise the anthrophobes make in response to hearing the unvarnished truth.

Somewhat relatedly, here's poor little Jessie Gender freaking out because JK Rowling responded to one of his mean tweets, and he feels persecuted:

My dude, you questioned if there was any way to strip her of the rights to her own IP. And when someone gave you an out by asking if that was what you actually meant (probably realising what a bad look it was), you doubled down and affirmed it. I don't think you get to pretend like you have the moral high ground here nor ever

I wouldn't be at all shocked to learn that there's a legion of frothing HP fanatics who probably masturbate themselves comatose at the idea of seizing control of the IP and running it the way they think it should be. Hermione will be blacker than the inside of a coal pile, Teenage Harry will be having homo threesomes with Snape and Malfoy (who will probably be some variety of male veela that can get pregnant) every day, and there'll magical potions that turn LARPing degenerates into real boys and girls just like that.

https://www.reddit.com/r/entertainment/comments/zp2o0b/jk_rowling_mocks_trans_gamer_for_hogwarts_legacy/

Here's the reddit thread for that. Also locked of course. With the exact same stickied post. And guess what, the exact same mod posted it as well. Curious.

It's almost like all the trans shit on Reddit is being pushed by a group of a few dozen mods? Nah.

It's probably more like 5 mods with multiple alt accounts.

I wonder how many of the commenters are bots.

[–]Femaleisnthateful 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Some interesting comments near the bottom where people are pointing out that the thread title is clickbait and that Jessie being trans has nothing to do with the substance of the incident.

I like how the mods have to post a stickied thread at the top reminding everyone how to think and what to believe.

I hope that threads like this peak more than a few people in the long run. I see more commenters wising up to the fact that they're being manipulated by Reddit.

I'm not sure, I was just pointing out another Jew pushing hate, tranny propaganda, and censoring dissenting opinions.

antisemite

That word is like "transphobic." People don't hate the trannies as individuals generally, they hate the shit trannies do overall, and their ideology that they try to force on other people. Same deal with Jews.

[–]Haylstorm 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The goblins one makes me laugh almost as much as the orcs one. Like the only seeing this is you and it says a lot about you that you see fantasy staple and go "that's a jew!". Always feels like they need a big long look in the mirror and they'll find the racist.

Who cares what a sub that shuts down discussion on a discussion forum thinks. Why even have comments at all if you're going to censor dissent.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I don't care what they think. But the point is to make it seem like everyone agrees with you. It's narrative control. If you search something and get only one viewpoint, someone who doesn't know what is going on will only see that.

Now this is I think an ultimately self defeating tactic. But this is the same ideological failure that led to the downfall of religious attendance in the west. When you're in an environment where you cannot so much as question dogma, it stifles any and all discussion, intellectual development, and encourages ideological laziness, which is the core reason why people dog pile on the dissenter in the first place, it's far easier and more fun to jump on the person questioning your beliefs as an enemy, rather than attempt to engage in good faith and force yourself to evaluate your own beliefs in order to defend them adequately.

Once such an environment is in place it cannot function beyond authoritarian approaches. As there cannot be discussion. Cults operate in a similar manner, one person ends up dictating the rules and schisms and problems are simply ignored, once the leader dies or is ousted and there's a power struggle, it forces the debate that should have been going on the entire time, and that leads to schisms.

They must shut down discussion to maintain their authority. For if they didn't then they would lose the pretense of power and would have to actually engage in a defense of their positions that doesn't boil down to empty tautologies.

The old TiA was a prime example of what you said. Reddit smoked out the radfem subs, and a lot of them migrated over to our neck of the site. There was a huge uptick in posts featuring troons, and gradually--I imagine as they became more comfortable--you saw the radfems' misandry become more prevalent as well. There were a growing number of people in there who absolutely loved playing the "you're just an incel, you and your opinion don't count, so shut the fuck up" card at every opportunity. And when they were periodically reminded that they were just as much a target for TiA's core membership as the troons, they never took it well.

    [–]RedEyedWarriorThe Evil Cishomo 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yep. In my opinion, misandry is just as bad as misogyny. And it annoys me that there's this myth out there that in order for a leftist to call out transgender ideology the leftist has to be misandristic. Not true at all.
