Some of the most openly homophobic people online have been either trans or part of the QT+ umbrella. It isn't surprising to me that members of that ideology would attack gays or gay themed establishments.

The religious right used to make our lives miserable up through the 90s or 00s but at least they would say "hate the sin not the sinner". These people actively try to dehumanize anyone who refuses to fuck them by calling them a "terf" etc...

Religious right "worst offenses" usually involve standing around inappropriate places with signs that say things like "All Fags Burn in Hell!" which isn't a great look but even that's a small fringe and well, I've always been one to say "just ignore the crazy attention seeker with a sign".

That's for organized stuff anyway, you'll occasionally hear stories of gay kids getting the shit beat out of them in more conservative areas but I think that isn't so much a religious thing as a general asshole bully thing. Typically involves alcohol and unwanted sexual advances as well.

Of course we are dealing with people who think "silence is violence" or that disagreement is genocide or what not so naturally the right being the most vocally anti-gay are going to get blamed with every instance of violence even if 9/10 times violence or violent threats are usually carried out by someone close to the victims. I mean it's the same as child sex abuse isn't it? It's usually a relative. Not some roaming child kidnapper. But who gets all the media attention?

Someone shoots up a church it's usually someone who is related to someone who goes to that church, same with school shootings. Rarely is it ever part of some larger ideological motivation more it's just some dumbass kid that has decided to become the avatar of evil because they hate themselves.

There's the occasional incident like that guy that went up and shot up all those black people outside the supermarket that we could conceivably categorize as "right wing" but even there it's clear the primary motivation is to kill lots of people because the person decided to take upon themselves the mantle of death incarnate rather than any coherent or achievable political ideology.
