The want to treat their customers like children (because they are definitely not selling their adult products to children) because a small faction amongst their customers wants to be treated like children because they miss Mummy looking over their shoulder and protecting them from the big, nasty world and another small portion of their customer base struggles with reality and find being reminded of that hurts their fee-fees.

The dystopian authoritarian hellscape will be brought about by people demanding their feelings be protected from naughty words.

They treat their customers like children because the want to normalise the masses acting like children. Children are more obedient, more naive and less likely to think outside the box.

There is certainly some of that, but there are a lot of people who grew up with helicopter parents who do not want to be treated as adults. They’re the ones who talk about feeling safe and complain that they feel unsafe when people disagree with them. Jonathan Haidt has talked a lot about these people, well worth checking out some of his lectures on YouTube or his book “The Coddling of the American Mind”. It’s a fascinating look at how an entire generation has been ruined by poor parenting and how those people may go on to damage society.

Helicopter parents are worse than neglectful parents. Helicopter parents raiae dependent, anxious and entitled children. Boomers started this shit and now look what has happened.
