I thought that too but it says it's America. Derry, Maine was where IT lived and is in a bunch of other Stephen King books. So obviously this is just one of his more surreal stories come to life. I've seen some trans women beauty queens who, at least in still photos, look aesthetically pleasing. So them winning a contest on attractiveness, while obviously pandering to a fad, isn't sooo utterly stupid. This person is not attractive, in fact, they are the opposite to the point where they are unhealthy and look deeply ill at ease in their body. Winning this competition is just ridiculous.
