It's actually terrifying that this person is HIV positive and doing this. Children aren't the most competent at protecting themselves and I can imagine this person has done this in the past and stealth infected minors. It doesn't mention anywhere in the story that they brought up the HIV angle in the Grindr messages.

I have personally had arguments with people who call themselves "HIV activists" about the idea that they should not be required to disclose having HIV before having sex. There was a story about a person being charged with attempted murder I think because they tried to stealth infect a sex partner and the "activist" was defending the person even claiming that there should be no requirement to disclose.

It's one of those cases where they treat a marginalized community like they are incapable of doing anything wrong. It's like another fetishized identity token... Intersectionality being a disaster over and over again.

The thing that enrages me about HIV activists and their entire manifesto of bullshit is their constant mention of the suppression drugs. Yeah, okay, those exist and that's great. But people can't even get contraceptive drugs that are guaranteed never to fail and those have been around for a damn sight longer than these new HIV cocktails. And if/when that fails for some reason, and little Harry HIV's been rawdogging his partners and not telling them that he's infected with something that will be a part of their life forever if they catch it themselves, that's going to be an ugly fucking surprise.

And that, of course, doesn't even consider these filthy stealthers and their bullshit. Why should someone have to spend the rest of their life (and a considerable chunk of money, if they can afford it to begin with) sucking down a regular cocktail of meds because some fetish-crazed, absolute egotist decided it was their "right" to spread what they've got.

When I was younger I heard about "bug chasers" and thought it was complete insanity but at this point all these TiA topics seem to be forming a closed loop where they are essentially all variations of the same person. Problem is the loop is more like a saw and is damaging everything it touches.

It is complete insanity. Turns out though some people are insane and dismissing concerns about it because "no sane person would ever do that" is kinda a stupid argument.

I should have thought the internet would have alerted most young people by this point that, of there's some insane stupid idea, there's someone somewhere who legit thinks it's a good idea. Like sounding (the sex thing, don't look it up if you don't know what it is, unless you are a medical professional and used to this shit).

Unfortunately, rather than being warned, they seem to take the knowledge as suggestions of things that they can do/follow/believe in to be one of the cool kids.

And it is my great misfortune that I know exactly what sounding is. Serious moment here folks, but when someone warns you not to look something up? Yeah, don't take that as a challenge and go looking anyway. Because sometimes you wind up learning things you would have happily done without. (I'm the dumbass that would have ended up as a pillar of salt...)
