The rise of Rishi Sunak to become the UK’s first Asian-heritage prime minister has prompted some truly atrocious takes from race-obsessed identitarians.

Predictably, one of the worst came from the United States – the home of critical race theory and an established hotbed of wokeness. Trevor Noah, a South African comedian and presenter of The Daily Show, confidently asserted that the UK’s first PM of Indian descent had prompted a racist ‘backlash’ among white people. Noah even suggested that white Brits were concerned that Sunak will personally seek revenge for British colonial activities on the Indian subcontinent.

Apparently Noah got significant pushback on his Twitter from fans…be interesting to see if he apolo….hahaha he’s not going to apologise. Remember he’s the guy who made jokes about Black South African gold miners being gunned down by police to break a strike and he has the audacity to lecture others about race.

And don’t get me started on the retard daily show reporter who complained strongly about Rishi Sunak being described as Asian.

If anything he'll point to the 9% of people that said having a non-white PM would be a bad thing and say, "See? Racist backlash!" It doesn't matter if it was just one single person to them; they will look for anything to blow out of proportion to fit their worldview.

If he was actually clever, he would have pointed out that Rishi Sunak was appointed PM in a decidedly undemocratic fashion and that a principled democrat would now ask the King to dissolve parliament and call an election, but he knows his party will be wiped out if he did.

But that would mean he would have had to have done some research and it might paint the brown guy in a bad light and that can never be allowed to happen.

It's not undemocratic. The people in the UK do not elect a specific prime minister. They elect individual MPs. The party with the most MPs becomes the government. And the leader of that party becomes the Prime Minister. If the leader of that party changes over the course of that government's term, that new leader is the prime minister. They can do that as many time as they want or need to within their term. Calling it undemocratic for the party leader to change and therefore the PM to change, just shows a lack of understanding in how the democracy of the country works. And while there are flaws in the UK's democratic system, election of a government for a set term, the leader of which can change over that term, is standard practice in many democratic systems.

And usually a leader chosen this way, especially one who is going to have to implement massive policy changes that were not on the last manifesto, would call an election to get a mandate from the electorate for their programme. Sunak can claim no popular mandate, especially as some of the changes have nothing to do with sorting the problems caused by his predecessor (such as changes to post-16 education).

I thought the same thing when Brown was anointed PM, and so did the tories at the time who were calling for an election.

It’s not even that the 9% don’t want a non-white PM. The 9% don’t want a PM who is French or German either.

Rishi Sunak IS Asian. He’s from India, which is in Asia. Thinking that all Asian people look like East Asians is as ridiculous as thinking that all Latin Americans are brown - there are a lot of white people and some brown people in Latin America.

Well no. Actually he's from Southampton. And his parents are from Africa. Ethnicity wise he is Indian but that's Asian in the same way that Jews or Arabs or Turks are also "asian". Usually when referring to asian ethnicities people mean east Asian.

is as ridiculous as thinking that all Latin Americans are brown - there are a lot of white people and some brown people in Latin America.

Now its funny you mention this because a good number of people do actually think this. I've had this kind of discussion with people before who think it's dangerous for someone who is "white" to go to Mexico at all. Which is funny because mexico was colonized by white people they somehow think there aren't any white people there anymore? Retarded to say the least. But that's Americans opinion on race for you.

Like take a look at this picture of Roberto Gonzalez from Madrid. And you tell me he doesn't look Indian? It's all culturally defined

That’s the US-centric view. Asian in the UK generally refers to someone from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan or Bangladesh. So Rishi is Asian.

Rishi is Asian. Not going to argue that. India is in Asia after all.

But the guys born in Southampton so I don't really see why anyone cares where his ancestors fucked.

Like America, Mexico is racially diverse. Sure, the majority of Mexicans are brown, like how the majority of Americans are white. But just like how America has brown people, Mexico also has a lot of white people. Plus, Mexico has black people, native Americans and Asians.

Spain is mostly white, but there are a lot of brown people there, some who’ve been there for centuries. Spain was once colonised by the Moors, who were Muslim. Also, Spain was once a colonial power, having ruled over Mexico, Central America, most of South America, parts of the Caribbean, Equatorial Guinea, the Philippines and several more countries. Many people from these countries moved to Spain.

I doubt most British people care that Sunak is brown or Indian. What they care about is whether Sunak can run the UK properly. And looking at the Tories' track record, Sunak has a lot of work to do to get British people to like him.

So they got them a paki.

[–]RedEyedWarriorThe Evil Cishomo 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

He’s Indian. Indians and Pakistanis don’t like each other that much. Calling Sunak a Paki would make him mad, and that would be hilarious to see.

Paki is the standard racist slur for Indian and Pakistani people in the UK. It’s akin to our N-word.

Got called it a lot in the 80s and 90s, fairly rare to encounter it these days. The heyday for usage was the 70s though, my mum and dad used to have it screamed at them in the street in London by random people - “Pakibashing” was also a thing amongst certain groups. Here I think it’s just someone trying to be edgy.

Most likely. I think anymore when slurs are getting thrown about niiggerdly pakiddly it's either some dumb fuck immature brat trying to get off on people overreacting to it or a literal insane person off their meds. Unlike those posers I identify as both.

When President Obama was elected in the US, a lot of us thought we were one step closer to achieving a post racial society. I did not support his policies but as an American, I appreciated the significance of his election and it was still something that made me proud of my country (I know…I was never a liberal but back then I still saw a lot of promise in this county).

Instead, race relations got worse after he was elected. And that was not because of white people.

I think the smarter ones among the racial rent seekers realized that stoking the flames of racial resentment kept the grift going.

Trevor Noah is an unfunny hack who got the equivalent of a diversity hire job in the entertainment industry. He needs to invent racism where none exists because that’s how he gets to keep his job.
