Jamie Lee Curtis is his adoptive mother, if that's who you're referring to. I suspect this guy has had some trauma in his past. He's obviously severely dysfunctional.

I have some empathy for parents like Jamie because I know they're under extreme pressure to 'support' their kids or else they're going to be monstered by all of society (especially in Hollywood) and blamed for their kid's eventual suicide. She has to see that this is warped behaviour though.

She is doing more than just supporting though.

She is loving having a trans kid and getting to play the hero.

If the person meant to be your anchor is telling you millions of people hate you and want you dead that's not being very supportive.
