This is a step in the right direction. What were they thinking giving attention to half-breed like this. Being Bisexual basically means you are half straight. and unfortunately you cant be just half monster so bisexuals are literally worse then trump and should be ostracized from society so the good science fearing queer folk can live in peace. When DC decides they want to make a good tv show that truly represents the downtrodden they can take my advice and turn green lantern into a morbidly obese, physically disabled, mentally impaired black Muslim lesbian trans woman.

You used "woman" instead "womxn," you're canceled!

Not surprised, to be honest. You'd think that, after the mess regarding Marvel's New Warriors' characters Snowflake and Safespace, creators would understand that readers aren't interested in having this sort of shit forced on them. Or that the reason these properties have lasted so long is because they have a particular formula that works, and fucking around with the formula in the name of ideology doesn't work; the author is quoted as saying "The idea of replacing Clark Kent with another straight white savior felt like a missed opportunity."

Well guess what, dumbfuck, Superman has been around for longer than you've been alive, longer than either of the meatbags that participated in your creation, and (likely) longer the meatbags responsible for their creation too, all on the strength of being a "straight white savior." So obviously that's what readers are interested in, not your homosexual wish fulfillment "Last Twink of Krypton" bullshit, and it's the readers putting down the money every month, not the critics and the wokies who applaud your platforming before moving on to the next bit of virtue signaling.

The funniest thing about the non-binary characters Snowflake and Safespace was that they drew them so it was very clear which was male and which was female.

I wonder if they really give a shit. It's almost full woke across the board it seems, to me. I look at the issues of American comics displayed in my local comic shop, and I see all gender-bent superheroes etc. Nobody buys these, do they. I stay far away from capeshit anyway, it just strikes me that it's ostensibly propaganda of some kind.

It's probably a mix of the progressive elements being the loudest, the majority of people not giving a fuck about comic books besides childish nerds and maybe art students.

Companies put out surveys and panels and shit only the Uber nerds and arty students will bother to participate. "We want more gay shit" they decry, but are they actually buying the comics?

Super hero comics have largely appealed to a male audience and they are essentially male power fantasies. Nothing wrong with that per say but when you try to make them something they are not it's gonna alienate your primary audience of children that don't wanna see boring smooch smooch romance and wanna see superman punching people and throwing them into the sun.

Don't forget the "the average person doesn't know what's going on in the comics, they only care about the movie/TV show" (and they will usually have the classic character punching people.)

Used to be, TV and movies have gone into the weeds now, but they've probably just milked out the superhero genre as far as it can go.

Honestly, even if they've milked the superhero genre hard, you're never going to totally milk clean "it's handsome men and beautiful women in tight spandex beating each other up.'

You gotta give me some time to get my energy back man the refractory period is killer after a 10+ year super hero bender.

Well, it could be argued that someone gives a shit, in light of this series being canceled from regular rotation and dropped to a limited-run release.

And while this might just be "it was better in my day" thinking at work, comics were a lot more fun 20 or so years back. As long as you didn't get caught in chasing special covers or limited editions, you had some absolutely banging stories to enjoy. There wasn't any woke silliness, just Rob Liefeld drawing tiny feet and big tits (and pouches everywhere) :D.

There's a market for super gay comics. It's just a very small market.

I don't really care if they want to make shit I don't like. I'll just laugh at it and don't read it. I don't like the "you're a bigot if you don't wanna buy my shit" marketing trend. Ok , I'm just as bad as Hitler, the KKK, and Thanos combined because I don't wanna buy a comic book where Superman fucks Men.

I actually don't really care if the character is gay or not either, I just don't trust them to do a story that doesn't devolve into gratuitous gayness.

It's just lazy writing in the end, it's the ultimate, what if thing was different but not. What if superman was black, what if superman was gay. What if superman was a latino lesbian thot. What if superman was in a wheelchair. What if superman was Asian and a were monkey. It's all been done to death.

What if superman was Asian and a were monkey.

Not going to lie, I'd at least take a look at that one. For the "what the fuck were they smoking when they thought up this shit" value, if nothing else.

What if superman was black,

Actually, this one has been done, by Milestone Media (same publisher that created the more well-known Static Shock), the character's name was Icon.

There's good shit to be had when you actually make huge significant changes to stuff. Like what if superman was raised in Russia instead of America. Kinda interesting. Though it basically falls into what if X character was evil trope.

But that trope is infinitely more interesting than what if X character had a vagina or what if X character sucked cock. The character is essentially the same so the only way the writers can differentiate it is by leaning hard into stereotypes. Why you get all the cringe girl power jokes and the like, which is a shame because there's a long cinematic and literary history of actually interesting female characters where being female isn't the end all be all of their character.

Like imagine if you took Brokeback Mountain and remade it to be straight. It would likely suck. It would just be a random cowboy romance movie. And you'd be better off writing one from scratch than trying to remake an existing title. All this shit is these days is equivalent of making umpteen different versions of the same toy to kids for the collect them all types. Same reason why Tokusatsu heroes have a billion plus transformation forms. Merchandising merchandising merchandising.

I kinda liked static shock won't lie. Didn't seem that unique a concept but was basically like budget X-men in the hood so was interesting.

The only true masterpiece to come out of the superhero genre was Superman 2 I think. That and the 60's Batman. I really hate this modern trend of taking the super hero genre seriously. My god he flies around in his underwear. I want campy stupid rediculous escapist power fantasy bullshit that I can laugh at for an hour and then not care what the fuck the sequel will be.

Good riddance. Enough of this shoehorning identity politics into comic books.

Superman is obviously 100% full gay.

They haven't cancelled it totally. It's coming back as a multi-format special edition. It sold to nobody so they are trying their hand at making it a collectors' piece.
