I'm a bit confused. Mind you I haven't used Paypal since like 2010, but where and why are there comments? I thought it was just a payment platform, i.e. you pay for things or you receive payments for things and that's it. Has it evolved into a social media platform now? If so what's the point?

Paypal has an instagram account where they post stuff related to their services. The comments are about PayPal's new policy update. They added that PayPal could fine you 2500 dollars for spreading "misinformation". Say you posted something about COVID or the Russia Ukraine conflict and they deem that to be "misinformation" then they could fine you for 2500 dollars.

They took it back after the backlash. They were just testing the waters I guess. They will definitely try to make that a thing in the future with banks and stuff when they are able to get away with it.

Thank you for explaining and yeah that's pretty stupid of them.
