You know, I've read a few articles on this, and one of them had an interesting quote that I couldn't help but laugh at.

The company told media outlets: "PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and the language was never intended to be inserted into our policy." The payments platform said the policy update "went out in error that included incorrect information."

Bullshit. Paypal is a multi-billion dollar company, they don't do something like this without it being thoroughly vetted before it reaches the public. Especially these days, when everyone and their dog is all about optics and perception.

They meant it, every word of it. Someone over there was doing what lefties love most, using their professional position to exert power in favor of their personal ideology, with the approval of those in charge. And the only reason they're rolling it back and talking all this nonsense about "it was an error" is because it unexpectedly blew up in their faces.

They also make it undeniably obvious that the fact checkers are just the lefts personal Gestapo. They're claiming this is "mIsInFoRmAtIoN" even though thousands of people saw it with their own eyes. The language they use in this article: https://www.truthorfiction.com/paypal-misinformation-fine-controversy/

"In the tweet above, right-wing pundit and longtime disinformation purveyor Candace Owens advised her followers to stop using PayPal; commenters asked for additional information." First of all they had to emphasise on "right wing" secondly their bias showed when they spoke about her using emotional language "RIGHT WING PUNDIT LONGTIME DISINFORMATION PURVEYOR" that is political speak right there.

I don't like Candace Owens nor am I right wing but if you claim to be an unbiased "fact checker" that's the sort of biased language you should avoid using.

Of course they are still going to fine people for hatefulness, such can be pretty much be defined whichever way they like.

If that's still in there then there was no mistake.

They are acting like an intern tripped and fell into the photocopier while holding her 1984 book and somehow their official account this posted a crazy policy for the users.

You'd think that but my past interactions with them left me scratching my head wondering if they exclusively hired lobotomy patients. They might just be that stupid.

Well I just phoned them and it was the best customer service experience I've had for months.

Shame it was to clear my account.

Is there really a difference between a communist and a lobotomy patient?

Yes the latter at least still has some of their brain left.

While the former has all of it "left".

I wonder how they're going to fine people when they could call their bank and unauthorise the payment to PayPal and just never pay.

I doubt they could actually take the money. Though they could use this to selectively wreck havoc on people using their platform and try to give it a sheen of legitimacy.

I haven't used PayPal in years after I had an issue with them and their customer service was dog shit. They're on a very short personal blacklist of mine for companies that aren't worth the trouble of doing business with at all.

If Verizon isn't on that list you should add it.

Exactly, I had let my multiple accounts sit around basically unused for years and thankfully for their fuckery this motivated me to login and close them up for good.

I'm a bit confused. Mind you I haven't used Paypal since like 2010, but where and why are there comments? I thought it was just a payment platform, i.e. you pay for things or you receive payments for things and that's it. Has it evolved into a social media platform now? If so what's the point?

[–]WhenImBannedJihad against the woke[S] 10 insightful - 3 fun10 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Paypal has an instagram account where they post stuff related to their services. The comments are about PayPal's new policy update. They added that PayPal could fine you 2500 dollars for spreading "misinformation". Say you posted something about COVID or the Russia Ukraine conflict and they deem that to be "misinformation" then they could fine you for 2500 dollars.

They took it back after the backlash. They were just testing the waters I guess. They will definitely try to make that a thing in the future with banks and stuff when they are able to get away with it.

Thank you for explaining and yeah that's pretty stupid of them.

PayPal has a feduciary obligation to their stock holders. Expect changes on the board of directors soon.

I hope the process was something like: Woke staff got a hand on their policy stuff, implemented changes, people react, the non-woke staff rescind and hopefully reprimand or fire the loons who wrots this into their policies first.
