At some point society started to rebel against the harmful stereotypes of men and women in media because barely anyone actually looks like the "idealized" version of what they were showing. Now we've moved to a different version where the unrealistic stereotypes are "good" and if you don't conform to that exact stereotype then you must be trans or "LGBTQ+".

Because the, for want of a better word, Woke have taken over positions of power in the corporations, media and government and they’ve used social media to make their numbers seem far greater than they really are and most importantly, suppress dissent.

It will most likely take major shareholder actions to unseat the executives at the media corporations behind this stuff, and I’m actually surprised that the mismanagement of major IP like Star Wars hasn’t caused Disney legal trouble especially after the dismal performance of their SW movies post TLJ and the dire TV shows (except for The Mandolorian), and it looks like Marvel Studios is being mismanaged the same way.

Are you kidding? The mismanagement of these major IP is a STONE GROOVE to Disney because they win either way.

If the newer, Woker, IP succeeds...well, the new woke IP succeeds and they laugh their way to the bank that they gave the whiny rubes a new bauble to pretend Disney cares about them, so they'll support all of Disney's other things too.

Shareholders, especially institutional shareholders, like pension funds, don’t give a fuck about wokeness or The Message, they only care about returns on investment. I thought the Batgirl movie was less because of the dangerhair crowd and more "it didn't matter what it was- it was made, they realized they could get a nice big tax writeoff for it, and cutting it could cut a big chunk of what they lost for the sale off the books.

It was a tax writeoff, but other rumours I’ve heard was that, despite having a competent directing team, the executive meddling in the script and casting made it so bad that they couldn’t risk releasing it as a box office flop would do damage to the DC IP and other releases. I’ve seen some on-set footage of a scene being filmed and the actress playing Batgirl couldn’t even manage to run in a non-comedic fashion even when they changed her into comfortable shoes.

They’re really concerned about Black Adam and Shazam 2, Black Adam is supposed to be dreadful despite having The Rock.

I actually liked the new Star Trek movies. But maybe it's because they're all split off into their own discrete timeline from the "core" universe, whereas Star Wars and LotR are "canon" to the stuff that doesn't suck.

Yeah Star Trek has always played it fast and loose with "canon" so even if they want to ignore everything that came before, the movies can still be decent. Abrams Star Trek was just pew pew actiony Star Wars rip-offs, shame it gets away from the more philosophical and thoughtful style of star trek but it's a business and the movies are perfectly watchable action romps even if they are barely star trek movies. Didn't bother me much. The later TV shows though, Picard especially, holy shit that stuff is bad. Unwatchable garbage.

Abrams Star Wars movies are also purely watchable somewhat enjoyable action romps but it's worse there because while we can say the first star wars movie was that, the sequels tried to tie in some kind of gravitas and weight to the story with the whole luke Vader and emperor dynamic, and the prequels were maligned but secretly amazing because Lucas did the whole bait and switch where you think you're going to watch star wars but you get to watch space CSPAN isntead. (Which is also why another greatly maligned movie in the west is amazing (shin-godzilla) basically no monster, you just watch bureucrats freaking out for two hours. It's excellent)

But the Disney shit just throws away any semblance of plot or good story for just carbon copies of the old movies with uncreative Hollywood bullshit gotchas in an attempt to add spice. That last one was ironically funny because of how fucking dumb it is. Riding horses on a fucking spaceship, DBZ Kamehameha battle with palatine. The whole thing was like watching what a 5 year old would write if you gave him too much sugar.

LOTR has been shit since the garbage hobbit movies. No respect for the source material, only respect for box office returns. Again actually enjoyed the third one but only due to being inebriated and laughing at how fucking horrid it was. Sauron rave, Legolas jumping up shit.

Am I the only one whose noticed that "woke" reboots of classical cartoons seem to share alot of subtle common characteristics? They have biracial characters with unnaturally colored hair forcibly inserted who dress in a gen-z way that is a completele asynchronism to the way the other characters dress, and completely shit on original characterization like by animating the original characters with very retarded expressions (Like nu-Powerpuff Girls). I mean what the fuck is up with Velma's face? Why is she making some weeb :3 face? For god's sake, just make your own cartoons at least and stop superimposing your shit on classical ones.
