Completely forgetting that the perfectly acceptable gender neutral “Latin” exists already.

It’s all about power and control.

‘Latino’ itself is gender neutral from what I’ve heard. So the whole conversation never had a point in the first place.

So their problem with it is the X and not that most Latin people fucking hate this gender neutral shit?

Their problem is that their campaign to colonize Latin identities and language didn't take, so now they're memory-holing that campaign and trying a new tactic.

Latinos are not having this shit. Except for the retarded ones, but they’re hated by other Latinos.

It seems more like the later generation English speaking Latinos. English itself isn't gendered except for specific references to sex like with pronouns. Native Spanish speakers are used to everything being gendered without it needing to be a reference to sex.

Interesting.

I wonder if people in Mexico or South America consider American English-speaking Latinos to be true Latinos if English is their first language. I know this is me being ignorant, but I am curious. I know that most Latinos in America are at least partly Amerindian.

Most people in other countries don’t consider anyone born and/or raised in America as real insert particular ethnic/cultural group. For example, Americans who visit Ireland and pretend they have any actual connection to the country are mocked as plastic paddies.

Whenever an American tells me his Irish, I ask him where were his parents or grandparents came from. Unless at least one of them are Irish, then that yank is not Irish.

Closest relation is always like their grandfathers cousins neighbours friends dog. Cause it was an Irish wolfhound.

I greatly prefer latrine to Latinx. Plus you can gender it as will by calling them Latrinos or Latriñas.

"Latinks" just makes me think of a gay hispanic twink.

(((Whites))) tried to make up a new virtue signaling term and it was not well received by the people it was meant to “empower” so it’s off to the next compelled speech term.

at this point latinos are just going to make fun of them no matter what. Latinx was failed from the start. Salon is a dumb site anyway

Complying with any of these 'inclusivity' trends only sets you up for failure. Do not comply. Refuse to use any pronouns or gender labels and it all goes away.

or polish off that Apple of Eris--"why should pronouns be mandatory? are you just trying to force people to choose between outing themselves vs. continuing a dysphoric lie!?"

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I agree with that it forces people to out themselves. Though I basically tell the truth where I think telling other people your preferred pronouns is stupid and narcissistic and it automatically makes me lose all respect for someone.

I'm all for "including latinx", but not as an 'oppressed minority' by any stretch of the imagination.

The genuine legacy of "latinx" is "The original, Trans-Atlantic multi-Continent plunderers and Colonizers". They had already invaded North, Central, and South America before those lazy, incompetent "Anglos" ever left the starting-blocks.

Nobody forced them into Slave-Ships for the trip to the New World. It was their hands on the wheel and their eyes squinting through the gun-sights.

Good luck, trying to keep anyone from noticing it's the descendants of their European ancestors' brutal, genocidal colonial empire, who are still in charge in all countries of Central/South America.

Look at the TV shows in their so-called "native lands". Where are all the indio faces? The soap operas look like they were made in Fernwood, Ohio.

Everyone not a PMC Karen hates this. But where did it originate? It's stuck as some signifier of class. Was this some dumb media op?

Bold of them to include “compañere” (classmate, but woke), a word that was mocked to death when a video went viral about a girl (sorry, a beautiful and brave non-binary) who used it while derailing the class and paying no attention to the teacher.
