Because the broadsheets (WaPo, NYT, Guardian, etc) have been in thrall to the DEI mantra for years and as a result place such emphasis on representation, decolonisation, equity etc and whipping their own backs for the sins of centuries past, that when shit like this happens they cannot see it for what it is.

It’s how ridiculous “News” outfits like The Daily Wire are doing more to protect children from outright child abuse than the authorities that are paid to protect children from abuse.

Its how the British government can allow an infected wound of sectarian violence to fester in the middle of the country for decades because “Muh multiculturalism” until it blows up into days of bona fide race riots between brown people and the news media tries to claim its just enthusiastic supporters after a cricket match (where neither of the teams was a home nation).

Anyone who says that the infiltration of the media and government by the cretins of women’s/gender/queer/black/fat/etc studies is harmless is a fucking Quisling.

It's really worrying. And it puts us(or me at least) in the position of having to use these arguably extremely biased sources for anything resembling critique. But they're not exactly bastions of integrity either, so quoting them will label you as an alt-right wingnut. It's almost like it's by design.

I mean, we're here ffs. I don't know about you, but I'm a moderately normal social democrat. But enough is enough. All I want is for the powers that be to have fucking integrity but nothing does anymore.

I’ve drifted to the centre but I was a fairly left wing Labour voter (not to mention I was, prior to 2015, pro-trans, having had an acquaintance in the 90s who was trans and no bother to anyone).

My friends are all lefties and I have to be extremely careful who I talk to about this stuff because it really does seem like a lot of people are of the opinion that they like the wool over their eyes and they will shoot anyone who tries to take it away.

I cannot stand Matt Walsh’s opinions on any other subject, but he seems to be the only person in the media to have the balls to call a groomer a groomer. His film should be compulsory viewing for all politicians.

I'm in pretty much the same situation. But I've had the pleasure to learn some of my friends are secretly un-woke and had some reassuring discussions. I'm also the token gay in the group so I think I'm assumed to be super progressive. Honestly the impression I get is that more or less everyone secretly thinks its all bullshit. Hypernormalisation of sorts.

Yeah I really can't stand Walsh either but his documentary was surprisingly decent. He's a result of the extremely partisan nature of America... It's that retarded way of aligning everything you think with a certain political direction that bugs me.

Pretty much the same situation here. I've had some conversations where I've tested the waters, pushed the boat out a little then drew it back in to see where people's boundaries lie. I know at least a couple of guys who are of the "We don't have to believe the same stuff, so long as you're not an arsehole about your beliefs" way of thinking. Which is all I want really, I don't really give a shit what your political leanings, sexuality, race or fashion sense are, so long as I know you're not going to flip your shit just because I don't believe the same things you do, or advocate for the same things you do. I don't need you to be a carbon copy of me to enjoy a pint with you, I just need you to not be a lightweight.
