Netflix has been slammed by viewers after adding an LGBTQ tag to the new Jeffrey Dahmer series, who have raged: 'this is not the representation we're looking for'.

Many called out the streaming platform - who have now removed the tag - saying they were 'gobsmacked' and 'disgusted' at the choice.

The series follows the infamous Milwaukee serial killer who murdered 17 people between 1978 and 1991 - many of whom were young, gay African Americans.

Many hit out at the tag, with one writing: 'Netflix added the Jeffrey Dahmer series to the LGBTQ+ tag. I am gobsmacked.'

Another wrote: They put the new Jeffrey Dahmer movie under the LGBTQ tag and I am disgusted. IT'S NOT AN LGBTQ STORY LIKE WTF.'

Someone else said: 'This is not the representation we're looking for' after the issue was raised on TikTok.

I sort of get where they're coming from, but at the same time his being gay did play a big role both in how he found his victims as well as why he got away with it as long as he did. Shit, one of his victims was handed back to him by the police because he told them they were gay lovers and he'd just ran away from a lover's spat. The kid was 14 and looked it. Maybe they could have leaned a little harder into showing the massive failings by the police and how attitudes around gay culture at the time played into that.

Anyway, Des was a good recent show about another gay serial killer Dennis Nilsen. There are definitely parallels you could draw between Dahmer and Nilsen, both in how they found their victims as well as what they did with the bodies after (though I believe Nilsen never engaged in cannibalism he certainly had an obsession with his victims' bodies and also had a habit of photographing them). Creepy performance by David Tennant in that

There was something funny going on with that Asian family. I don't buy for a minute both kids just happened to end up with Dahmer. I think it far more likely both were being pimped out.

I mean if your brother was molested by a guy and there was a whole trial which all your family attended you would remember his face and even maybe his address. No way did that boy not know who's house he was walking into to pose for photos.

Not to mention the other way around. One of your sons has gone missing, his older brother was previously molested by a guy and you can be pretty sure he's still in the same area. And that guy isn't the prime suspect for you? You don't go to the police and say "Hey, our kid's missing. There was this guy one of our other kids got molested by. Should probably look into him, see if he knows anything, he's definitely already on the sex offender registry"
