One thing to notice: when someone knows they are wrong about something, they always get angry and yell and talk over. When someone know they are right about something, they tend to always be calm and reasonable about it.
At either a conscious or subconscious level, even the most fanatical TRA supporter knows exactly they are wrong. And this is why they hate when someone points out they are wrong. Because it's like holding a mirror to their mind and showing how evil they are.
I am pretty sure the same thing must've happened if you ever tried to talk with people performing child sacrifices in Mayan cultures, or with people killing baby girls in China, or with people burning witches in Europe, or with people performing lobotomies in the USA of the '60s.
They know they're wrong. So I have no pity at all for them. "Forgive them, they do not know what they are doing"? Nope. They know.
