The whole "character's color scheme matches this flag" mentality is a huge pain in the ass, especially for anyone who designs characters. The alphabet mob will try to claim a character as theirs if they have any colors that happen to be similar to a flag. yellow/purple/black? non-binary! magenta/purple/blue? character is automatically bi! Pastel blue/pink/white? Trans! the trans one is especially obnoxious, as those are common pastel colors that go well together. Then if you say they're not, they immediately take it as a direct attack, because they're manipulative, narcissistic assholes who hope to bully others into giving into them.

What bothers me is how morally bankrupt society is. How come you need to identify with someone on a Physical level to feel a connection?. Why can't they identify with a character based on shared values or experiences or beliefs. Why does a characters sexuality matter? Why should their skin color or what's between their legs matter... why do people feel the need to uwu my head cannon says this character is a Transgender subsexual anti-inflammatory black nap-kin so saying it's not is violence because I'm too emotionally immature to identify with someone based on anything but Physical characteristics. It's frustrating as hell.

Because these people are so dark triad that they're through the looking glass of being dark triad to be PROUD of being narcissist/sociopaths. They are so proud to be narcissist/sociopaths that when they feel this weird...co-NECK-shin? or...em-PA-theee? thing they hear about for some character or person, well, it is impossible for them to feel that for anyone who isn't them, personally...so they need to add sexuality traits to them until the person becomes just like them, personally, so they can feel like "oh, no. This character is like me. No, scratch that, they ARE me, personally. I'm the one having all these adventures and these other characters are my friends and I'm so cool and awesome and totally not a loser, honest."

It's honestly a level beyond this and goes to "...these people are so self-obsessed they have crossed over to become evil."

And I'm sure anything with a rainbow in it is (in their fantasies) secretly LGBTQ. Lucky Charms, Skittles, Pink Floyd, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, etc.

Skittles

I mean, Skittles as a brand has used this fact as part of their marketing for Pride Month.

Which was probably the result of them hiring some blue-haired marketing intern who writes queer Skittles fanfic in their spare time. Point is, these psychopaths want representation so badly they just make shit up in their heads and declare it canon.

I won't lie gay ass Skittles are a pretty good marketing angle. They should have a new mascots Twink the Sugar Monkey and Bugger the Big-Ass Bear.

Ms. Pac-Man is a game about a crossdressing pizza of color that eats balls and is oppressed by the KKK.

I know this is probably a stupid question but why are they so fixated on children’s shit, be it video games aimed at children, films/TV aimed at children and books aimed at children/young adults?

Because they never grew up. That and it's probably easier to groom kids if you have an interest in common...

This, it's very childish to care whether or not a cartoon squid character in a video game identifies as a girl or not. Nobody gives a fuck.

What's rediculous to me about these things is that when these people talk about how much visibility and representation are important to them, they go on about cartoons and fantasy shit like this, as if androgynous or gender neutral characters haven't existed in fiction before, and as if a fictional depiction of a cartoon non human character in a fantasy setting is at all relevant to anything in real life. It would be like otherkin getting pissed off about warewolf representation. Or Emos getting mad that a character identifies as goth.

Because they’re blue haired man children who still hold grudges against family members over not accepting their delusions.

Viewers hoping that Shiver would be a nonbinary character had some convincing clues to go off from the video showcase linked above.

That's a funny way to say that viewers stretched to the point of pulling every muscle in their bodies to find justifications for a video game character being nonbinary. The idea that the developers even know the colors of the nonbinary flag to put that in there is dumb, never mind that the fact that the whole group seemingly uses those colors would seem to indicate that said colors have nothing to do with the gender identity of the group members. Oh, but also the whole group said a thing! Which means that one member of the group is nonbinary!

It was a huge reach from the very beginning and I can't believe that anyone even thought of it (although, those types of people are obsessed with their flags and with hidden messages everywhere, so I guess I can believe it).

    had some convincing clues

It always works like this. They see a character, they look for “clues” that confirm that so-and-so is somethingsexual-coded, and they treat it as gospel even when the creators confirm it's all bullshit.

Now it's "choose your style" with two pics without descriptions

They did the same with Splatoon 3. Although you can tell they're still programmed as girl/boy, because if you pick the female-looking one, you'll be called a “she”.

Animal Crossing has always been like that. New Horizons is actually the most transparent character creation has ever been in the series - prior to this, your hairstyle, face, and character gender were based on answers to an opaque questionnaire at the beginning of the game a la Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

iirc, there's never been an explicit "boy" and "girl" option, your choice before was between "cute" (girl) and "cool" (boy), and your choice never really mattered, because clothing in the series has never been gender-locked, and by New Leaf, you could get opposite-sex hairstyles for your villager once you unlocked Harriet.

Huh. I wasn't aware of that - although it seems to be a wider trend in gaming as a whole these days. Forza Horizon has the options of a male and female body without labeling them as such, with pronouns and voice detached from the body type you choose. So does Cyberpunk 2077, although it kind of makes sense there, what with the whole transhumanism theme of the genre.

Honestly I can't really care if a video game wants to give you more customization options. But at the same time I also don't care if they have none.

I remember seeing someone go off on a message board because you could get this "name the character" but otherwise there were no customization options. And thus person was mad because they wanted to use their female name but the character was male and it caused disphoria. Lol. Just don't use your name.

Personally, for most games I honestly wish they'd spend less time making these pointless character creators and more time just fleshing out the game and making it good. The more marketing I see saying they're got woke customization options the more I think they don't actually have anything worth showing about the actual game.

I don't give a damn about the customization options I just pick the default skin and start the game. Some people spend hours crafting some narcissistic fantasy version of themselves. It's weird. Especially in first person games where you rarely if ever see your character.

Lol only in the English version. Every other language version is sexed.

The rabid core Nintendo fan base has always been super weird and socially awkward as fuck. Especially online but irl as well they are fucking nonces. Had someone get pissed off angry at me for playing smash brothers with items on, the reason, he couldn't win 100% of the time with items on. Lol. Had someone almost get ready to punch me because I said I liked almost every other Zelda more than Ocarina of Time, which I didn't consider to be very good. Controversial opinion for sure but damn, these people take it personally like you've insulted their family.

They also only reluctantly banned possession of child sexual abuse imagery in 2014. Japan should not be looked up to by anyone, it’s the fucking Land of the Rising Nonce.

All those faggots that were creaming their pants over her being non binary and telling the normal people to shut up can get fucked now, hahaha

Well I have a character that screws with you guys and the LGBTIAMOGUS crew, as it is a racist non-binary tufted titmouse, they'd hate it because it has a terrible personality and will be insensitive. I just wanted to combine a very progressive trait with a very un-progressive trait.

I've seen them try and claim on Twitter that this "doesn't mean anything because it didn't come from Nintendo Japan". They can never just admit that they made up a conclusion that wasn't there in their heads and a character can just have a color palette that is pleasing to look at
