Serves them right for genderswapping John Constantine. That was the weirdest decision. I loved that character when I was younger.

They genderswapped John Constantine? Damn, and I thought making Death black was the dumbest thing. Glad I don't pay for Netflix

Black Death could work, the real problem is they somehow manage to make Death unlikeable. It takes some work to make one of the most loved characters in history unlikeable.

Black Death could work

It did against most of Europe and Asia I suppose

Let me guess, she's an angry strong female character instead of a chill goth girl?

I had no idea until this moment Sandman is where the John Constantine character came from or they're supposed to be in the show.

Constantine was around before Sandman. He was just a cameo in the books.

Plenty of people don't watch new shows on Netflix until they get at least the second season; too many of them have been canceled and ended with a cliffhanger. With this announcement, Gaiman might have sealed the fate of Sandman.

Netflix cancelled Cowboy Bebop right after the first season dropped. Now that's a shame. I enjoyed Sandman, but if it gets cancelled I won't care.

Wasn’t Cowboy Bebop just garbage? I heard it was dreadful, but not being a fan of the anime (Anime-not even once!) I didn’t pay much attention.

It could have been better but I think it had potential. A lot of good shows have rough first seasons.

Look at ST:TNG. Season one was really quite bad, but it really improved and by season 3 it really started to hit its stride.

Wasn’t there a change in producers after season 2?

Season 1 has that weird episode “Conspiracy” which just makes no sense, as it felt like the finale to a long story arc but no arc was established. It also didn’t fit the tone of the show, way too dark.

[–]notafed 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

My understanding is that "Conspiracy" was supposed to be the start of a story arc which was later replaced by the Borg.

Or ST: DS9.

Netflix will cancel a show based on cost no matter how popular or well done it is.

If it's not bringing in new subs it's not worth anything to them.

Sandman could have done that if it had better publicity but they screwed that up.

Which is a a shame because even though it's flawed in some ways it's brings more life to the story in other ways, like Morpheus actually having expressions.

Then in that last/bonus episode they really stick the knife in virtue signalling hypocritical authors, which shows they know what they are doing and don't take themselves too seriously.

I was really hoping it would live up to the books, but I watched 3 episodes and that was enough for me.
