There's really only one time I can think where pronouns in bio would ever be relevant and that's for someone with an extremely androgynous or uncommon name to clarify, but even then it just seems sexist as fuck to me. Like why should anyone care what your gender is in most professional contexts? Why do you want to broadcast it to the world? So what if you are a woman? Our society has advanced and we accept the fact that some women are able to overcome that disability and become competent members of society. Why would they ever wish to consistently broadcast their inability to produce semen? Do they want people to treat them differently?

Exactly. I heard that the pronoun thing came from trans people who supposedly used this earlier (although I don’t think I ever came across a trans person like that) and the suddenly some people started pushing it to “better recognize others”, no misgendering, etc.

I have same feelings as you about it. I find it very hilarious too. In case if I was using any nickname without a name or a name that seems androgynous, and someone would mistake me for another sex, I’d just correct that person. No whining and threatening suicide like trans people do.

It’s just 100% virtue signaling, in various cases as well just to showcase “unique” pronouns set, like she/they of neopronouns (these can even include emojis!).

I also cringe at people who have “all pronouns” put there. Some don’t even claim to be trans but allow people to call them whatever they want to (others). Guess it’s another way to be special and not like the hetero meanies.

Honestly, this is why it's best to say "Forcing cis people to give pronouns in their bio makes a world where the only people who are not putting pronouns in bio will be trans people who aren't in a proper space to come out and effectively forcing them out before they are ready, and in doing so puts them at risk from enemies both foreign and domestic [their homespace who'd hurt them for being trans AND the trans advocates who serve as attack dogs to anyone who does not put pronouns in bio.]"

Damn, suggesting being born a woman is a disability.

They are differently abled than men.

disability /dɪsəˈbɪlɪti/ noun 1. a physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities. "children with severe physical disabilities"

2. a disadvantage or handicap, especially one imposed or recognized by the law. "the plaintiff was under a disability"

Women can not produce sperm. Women cannot father children. Women as a whole have physical challenges that prevent them from competing in many sports at the same level compared to men. And women suffer from legal restrictions on their activities in many countries.

You are perfectly fair to point out that the opposite is also true to some degree, men cannot give birth, therefore it can be considered a disability to be a man as well. Depending on your point of view.

The clear problem is in our modern society people don't really have well formed opinions on such things. You can easily annoy a casual feminist by asking simple questions like "Why should women have rights" and they'll become frustrated and angry at you because they cannot answer the question. They're not used to having to defend their core beliefs, and this is a dangerous position to be in since if you're unable to vocalize a good reason as to why women should be given equal legal access and protections in society, then they risk losing those gains. What was given can be taken away if it is not defended.

They want to be special, that's what. I've never understood why gender should matter to anyone but yourself, at least outside of romantic contexts. It's actually insulting to people who struggle daily and have had to go through intense surgeries and treatments, to act like declaring pronouns and behaving like a sexist stereotype is all it takes to become a different gender.

This might be weird, but: what about trying to convince the pronoun crowd that by that practice they help white supremacy? Tell them that they always have their pronouns in English and there are so many languages in the world, thus being blind to diversity of languages and possible different takes on gender (their usual SJW nonsense). Then also tell them how it’s associated with white people popularizing that language as an international one, colonizers and so on... That might be an interesting trolling experiment maybe.

To be fair, most of the people I've encountered with pronouns in signatures are being pressured by their employers and could care less about trans. Doesn't make me respect them any more though.

I'm going to agree here. The only "social" account I have is LinkedIn. It used to be a decent place to network, now it's so nauseatingly fucking retarded Facebook lite I can't stand it. I remember when they started having people place their pronouns after their name. The slew of mental retardation came in waves for weeks.

Nothing more disgusting than a 50 year old man who puts He/Him pronouns in the hope of seeming like a white knight when he sends a dick pic to a recent college graduate on a professional networking site.

literally all this pronoun shit is post-transition cope for not passing. if they invented a magic sex change button, and everyone could be the gender stereotype of their dreams, nonbinary identities and broadcasting pronouns would vanish overnight. it's the fucking Diet Coke of an already unfulfillable narcissistic fantasy and it's amazing how many people sip it.
