What a loser, my god. That poor woman.

Should've bailed after the first few years of no job. That's a neckbeard sign if i've ever seen one. You're never going to have a partner in that case.

I agree. I know this is controversial to bring up, but are there women out there who genuinely want a house husband? Sure, there are couples who make it work, but usually this happened by accident. Husband is a veteran or a retired cop/firefighter, or was let go from his job and unable to find employment.

Like I'll admit I wouldn't mind it if it's a childcare thing? You pick who has the better career ladder/moneymaking and they work. Childcare can be more than income at times if it's part time work for example. Even then though now it's more like both people working and childcare options are parents or something.

I can understand being a stay-at-home dad just because the wife earns more money or her job provides more benefits-in-kind. But a lot of women do not want to marry SAH dads, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this particular arrangement remains rare.

I mean it's just more efficient from a biological standpoint for the woman to leave employment to raise kids vs the man. Obviously the modern world is complicated and there will be exceptions, and there's certainly no reason why a father can't stay at home and raise the kids, but talking specifically about pregnancy, giving birth, nursing, these are things that only the woman can do and they will make it harder for her to keep working during it. The man doesn't have the same concerns.

I agree with this. A woman has to recover after giving birth to a baby. On top of that, she can breastfeed her child while a man cannot do that. Sure, a mother can put some of her breastmilk in a bottle and the father can feed her milk to the baby, but the most natural and simplest thing is for the mother to feed the baby directly.
On top of all that, the baby was inside the mother for 9 months. He's still going to need her for the first few months of his life so he can re-adjust to life outside the womb. It's important that the father begins holding the child and bonding with him, but the baby was never inside of his father, just half of him was, so the baby is simply not as familiar with his dad as he is with his mam.
Dad staying at home with the kids is still a valid option. But it should be a backup plan rather than the first plan.
