Any ethical physician, on principle, should absolutely refuse to treat any otherwise healthy patients seeking dangerous and life-altering surgeries or drugs with no real necessity to do so. Such a patient is not exhibiting the behavior of a rational individual.

Sorry but "give me what I want or I'll commit suicide" isn't a good justification for anything and the industry that's sprung up around this idea needs to be shut down.

Better than that: "give me what i want or else I'll commit suicide" has always been regarded as a tactic of abusers, but what is not okay for a boyfriend to say is okay for a patient or child to say now, because gender.

Some GPs only care about their paycheck though, so much so that they'll greenlit life-altering troon surgeries for clearly mentally ill people as long as they pay.

Hell, even in the cases where the GPs refuse to give in, the troons just hop from doctor to doctor until one doesn't give enough of a shit to give them the prescription for HRT.

Fucking idiots. Work on your actual issues first. So many of these people just end up being autistic or gay and pushing for things like this rather than giving them a safe environment to work out their feelings and support them rather than push for jumping straight to medical care.

A hell of a lot of the girls have been abused as kids and that is not being investigated because trans is used for a cover for their strange behaviour.

There's a girl in there who they called trans and recommended treatment. The reason? She liked Thomas the tank engine and hated periods. Yeah turns out she was just gay and bullied. Especially when you note the line in there that when the bullying stopped so did the dysphoria.

Therapy is needed because you can be very sure about things when you're sick. Suicidal people want to kill themselves, should we complain that doctors want to give them therapy/medication rather than just handing them a knife and telling them to go for it? Just because you're sure about it doesn't mean you're right, you'll just do something you might regret.

    I ended up seeking help because I was so wound up I couldn't function. "Severe anxiety". One prescription later and I function normally.

      The former Tavistock Clinic would like a word about bypassing mental health treatment before transitioning people they barely have interviewed.

      Mixed feeling on that one. It's totally rational to avoid mental health professionals given how they can have you locked up just because the feel like it etc. You'd literally have to be insane to deal with people like that. On the other hand, trans people are insane, and might be better served by the equally crazy mental health people. It's a tough one.

      I mean I think it's better to talk through/resolve other issues before committing to something major like changing your body. Some problems can manifest like that and will resolve when that issue is resolved. If you're getting treatment for something that isn't your actual issue? It's not going to help you.

      I don't know what novaramedia is, but this is essentially the promotion of rope therapy as an alternative.
