Banning it is wrong too. It needs to be defeated by being ignored, just as the majority of Spanish-speakers in the US seem to be doing with Latinx (although I’ve talked to several that are actively annoyed by it), and if it can’t be ignored then it should be resoundingly mocked. No one will use it if they’re met with laughter whenever they do.
