Egg is used by trans people to refer to someone who is trans but doesn't know it yet.

Go look at /r/egg_irl for examples. It's basically trans people trying to convince other people they are trans.

Definitely the second variant. Have yet to see a "let 'em hatch", but plenty of "crack this egg".
