I think it did, in a way. Of course I can’t grasp it fully as it is in the US (I live in different country) but looking through Twitter I noticed (in 2020 especially) many teenagers who said they come out with new gender/orientation because supposedly in lockdown they had more time for it, wanted some change etc.

You’d literally see challenges like “retweet this with your picrews of you in 2019 and 2020” and the 2020 selves suddenly had dangerhair, pride pin badges, pride flags background (if available in picrew), were much uglier, etc.

I felt it’s both sad and cringe, young people grooming out because they treat it almost as an aesthetic (even if the won’t admit to that) or because they live in shitty families which might be wealthy but don’t give them proper attention, etc.

I don’t even want to think how schools in my country treat it. Some probably don’t have a clue their students want to be trans. Some might have. I read a few days ago a funny comment about a student who was genderfluid and whined about having to do something on the board (during a lesson) and the teacher would call them wrong names because in one moment there should be a female name and in another one male etc. I don’t know the real sex of that person.
