Tbh, this recipe is awful, and it will look nothing like the picture stolen from https://www.kitchenathoskins.com/2020/02/21/best-creamy-tomato-soup-in-instant-pot/

1 tablespoon reduced-fat margarine 1 tablespoon canola oil

Gross, if you use cream, and drop the raw onion, you won't need to add any other fat, but otherwise butter is a better option.

medium onion, finely chopped

This recipe skimps on the important stuff but puts a lot of effort into this. All the other spices are powdered, evaporated milk is used, awful fats, but we take the time to do the onions? Onion powder works fine if you want onion flavor.

3 cans of no-salt-added diced tomatoes with the juice

Canned tomato paste is a superior option here. It doesn't have the calcium chloride the diced tomatoes do, which can cause a metallic taste, and you don't have to cook anything down. It's also usually cheaper.

Way quicker to start with tomato paste and thin it with chicken broth. Heat. Salt to taste and add whatever dried spices you want (personally I love a basil tomato soup). Before serving add a dollop of cream.
