She was cautioned

As in "Be careful, that chair is a little shaky"? Why would they say they cautioned her without saying what they cautioned her about?

Perhaps they mean caution as in, 'we could bring charges, but as this is a first offence / whatever, we'll let you off with a caution.' People get cautions for small or first time stuff all the time.

Was partly making fun of the Brits for their off-brand English variant, but "letting you off with a warning" makes sense. Calling it a caution just sounds weird. (they're still pretty silly though!)
